Engine color codes- 62 Johnson “warm white.”

Go to a reputable auto repair shop, and ask them to match the color. Go in with a motor part with the best preserved original paint (maybe the horn on the carb). The motor hood is fine if it has at least a part that still has excellent original paint. Tell the auto shop whether you want...

Just bought new boat, trouble first time out. Please help.

re. danger of "lean running": if reference is to the air/fuel mix -- adjust for best operation using the needle and spring assembly on the carb face (see manual for adjustment specs.) If the air mix is too lean (not enough fuel) the engine will stall or refuse to start. If too rich, the...

salt water motor? Water passaged could be blocked with salt build-up, but opening them up takes special care with a salty.

    25hp 3cylinder quitting

I would clean the carbs again, every orifice. Look for unexpected debris from the tank. Check the temperature -- use of an infrared tester on top of the head, or see if the top of the head is too hot to touch.

    Which towing position

A transom saver is very effective and more elegant, but you can use a one inch dowel or a piece of 2 by 2. Tie it in to keep it place.

    89 Evinrude e25tecem

After the carb rebuild, what did you set the idle needle at? How many turns open? Believe it should be 1 1/2 turns from closed, but others might know better. Set it according to the manual.

1984 Johnson 35hp tell tale at idle

Should not guess at powerhead overheating. Get an infrared tester and look for an operating temp at top of cylinders around 130-140F. 160F is overheating.

1955 evinrude 7.5 hp carb and starting

Try opening the low speed 1 to 1 1/2 turns after gently seating, 3/4 turn for the high speed.

    No joy on 1969 Evinrude

think I would assume it's flooding, if you have successfully measured the spark. Need a leaner adjustment (more air, less fuel).

1955 evinrude 7.5 hp carb and starting

think the neoprene gasket is the issue for fuel leaking out of the bowl. Bowl has to seal tightly at the bottom of the carb. (and keep the sintered filter in the bowl -- do the job very well if not clogged.)

Try a portable tank with fresh gas and TCW3 oil at 50:1.

    1975 9.9 sea horse

I don't know if you have done any work on the carburetor yet: https://www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php?year=1975&hp=9.9&model=10524C&manufacturer=Evinrude&section=CARBURETOR+&+MANIFOLD The solution might be as simple as adjusting the low speed needle -- air/fuel mix --...

    Plugs look good?!

rich running, looks like. They could simply be cleaned and regapped, reused. Prep them and put them in your tackle box.

very cool carb and intake manifold causing moisture

Think I would check the top of the head with an IR thermometer, when the motor should be at running temp (around 140F). Ambient heat from the powerhead presumably heats the carb some, while fuel cools it.

    How to decarb an outboard?

mist, and yes if you overdo it, you can lock up the engine, which can be disaster. Ever notice how your engine tends to run a little better in the rain?

    1986 Evinrude water pump issue

With reference to item 29, you might simplify by testing the pump manually/semi-manually. If you test the assembly by turning the driveshaft clockwise by hand, you should feel friction from the turning pump if it's working. You can also get water bubbling up from the exit hole (where the tube...
