Are wheel locks the way to go?

Right up until a thief rolls in with a tow truck and grabs the entire rig - tow vehicle and trailer. Seriously if they want it bad enough, they'll take it. Best advice - stay away from shady/unused/disused ramps, lock what you can (within reason as you do have to undo anything that immobilizes...

Trailer Rust, cross members and welds.

What concerns me are those welds on the cross members. From appearances, and the camera may be playing tricks, it looks like some of the welds have cracked through. First pic is concerning to me as it looks like top & bottom are still attached but that side isn't. I'd be tossing a wire wheel in...

    Anti-Rattle solutions

This is what we're talking about with hitch/drawbar rattle... Pretty sure it's the combination of the SUV being unibody with an open 3rd row basically acts as an amplifier/speaker combo for all that inside. It may also be related to the rear tray/box under the floor behind the 3rd row as that...

    First boat reappears...

Always wondered what happened to it. I bought it in 1999, new, had to be ordered as Anchor Marine (local dealer) didn't have any outboards, only I/O's. Required a $50 deposit. Not shabby for a guy making $9/hr doing call center support. Came with a 120HP Force engine which was repowered in...

Advice on a 4 winns restoration

It's your decision but in all honesty, given the mold, de-laminating/rotting structure and standing water in the pics, I don't think I'd be comfortable using it given its current state.

    Anti-Rattle solutions

I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the cheap HarborFreight drawbar than anything else 🤣 All my drawbars have rattled to some extent, some more than others. Just don't notice them as much with a full frame vehicle - our previous 4Runner or any of my trucks. With the unibody, like the...

1980 Beachcraft I/O Pretty but Rotten

The engine, if maintained, will last. If not, its a small block chevy 350cui v8 - dime a dozen. Junk yards are littered with them - buy, marinize, install, move on. Merc drive - if maintained, will last as well. So basically boils down to structure. If you like the lines and are willing to...

    Anti-Rattle solutions

Thanks for the replies. This is what I have now and the lock cylinder is in the way when I tow with the Ram... https://www.iboats.com/shop/economy-receiver-lock-fulton-products-imf-1184105.html Probably going with one of these (I checked Iboats and I don't see it or a comparable listed)...

    1979 Glastron Carlson CV-23 restoration

You realize that by leaving rotting wood in your stringers its only going to rot further right? I don't see how the plate is helping things, only masking an issue. Might be better off fixing what's rotted. Have you checked the rest of the stringers as you may have rot further back? Might be a...

Are wheel locks the way to go?

I think this really boils down to what are you comfortable with? Because, depending on the ramp, one could... lock the drawbar to the tow vehicle lock the trailer coupler to the drawbar lock the wheels using some sort of wheel lock or heavy chain chain the trailer frame to a tree or other...

Help! Water between hull and deck??

Usually the published weight is a dry, rigged boat unless otherwise noted. So things like seats, windows, carpet, etc are included BUT no gas, batts, safety gear. Usually a motor is included in that weight but you'd have to look for an "*" after the weight to see if there are any exclusions...

Stingray 208 water in the engine room

Umm not what I was asking. I see from your other posts that we're discussing a 2014 correct? So roughly 8 yr old boat? Are you the original owner - I'm wondering if there's a warranty possibility?

1994 crestliner pro am fixer upper parts

Probably manufactured by Taco Marine: https://tacomarine.com/ It's not going to be a "Crestliner" part as they simply installed what they bought from Taco or other 3rd party suppliers.

    Anti-Rattle solutions

Curious if anyone has used either an anti-rattle locking hitch pin OR the U-bolts they tout for taking up the slack in the drawbar to hitch connection? If so, any experience/preference? Problem is the drawbar is loose in the Durango hitch and you do hear it on bumps. The factory hitch isn't...

    Automotive Ground Straps

https://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchResultsPageCmd?q=ground+strap&storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1 These work, I have them in my 78 Trans Am when I re-wired it. They're also more flexible than 2-4 gauge battery cable as mentioned above.

3500# axle cap and water incursion

That plug's only job is to keep debris off the grease nipple. Has no impact on the water intrusion into the bearings. You're going to get some water intrusion over a number of dunkings no matter what you use. I do and I have bearing buddies on my current and previous trailers. I have them...

Resto info 1976 Fiberform bowrider Johnson 85 power tilt

The water pump impeller is specific to the motor. You need year, and HP, (possibly model / s/n) to order correct part. More than likely iBoats has it so use your forum discount to order. You'll also want the shop manual for the motor to review the process to remove & install the impeller.

Stingray 208 water in the engine room

Could be any number of things from rotten mount to waterloggeed foam, to a hull breach to??? Is this boat currently in a slip? If so, given that you're having water issues, I'd be pulling it out for inspection/repair. What year Stingray are we talking about??

Stingray 208 water in the engine room

Depending on the intensity of the rain storm, how water tight your cover is, etc, it's entirely possible to get a few gallons of water in. I had to pull out my FourWinns during a severe storm where I lost sight of the boat and the dock due to the intensity. The birds had happily filled my...
