Hey Oops,

Sounds like you have been busy at the shop! That stroker looks like a sweet power plant too....I bet you were trying to figure out a way to swipe that one:p
Give me a PM or email for the shop location and I will drop by and see you, I can't wait to see this beast in person! (I will have to support our Mexican brewing friends when I come there!!!)

Cheers,
Yar.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Wow!
I am amazed by all of the support, knowledge, friendships, and information in this thread!

I just found this forum and thread 3 days ago; I started reading this from the beginning from 8:00a.m until 10:00-11:00 p.m every day since. My Wife has decided I have a new obsession and has not talked to me for the 3 days it has taken me to read every post(*well she has said turn that daymn laptop off and go to sleep).

I have not worked on a real boat project in almost 20 years now, yet I have designed, tweaked, retrofitted 100s in my head for years but never got it out of my head and into production. I must say that after reading this I WILL begin my project and rely on the wealth of information here.

Everyone here has become a family and it is great to see it; I feel as if I know each one of you, though no one knows me . . . yet! This is more than encouraging this is inspiring, to Oops! You are truly blessed as I know you are aware. There are I am sure hundreds finding this every day and it can take a few days to get through everything, once you do you want more!

Bravo! To EVERYONE that is making this dream a reality!

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

just a quick update ......

i ve got to get to the shop and pull off some trim tabs off a hull we got....ehe heh heh.

gellcoating was a real pita.....

first.....i used pva insted of the wax. and the pva gelled in the gun and clogged in the gun.

i had to rebuild the gun three times..!

then when we went to shoot the gellcoat....i didnt notice the gellcoat had gelled in the bottom 1/4 of the can....i thought i was hitting the bottom of the can with my trusty drill mixer...but i wasnt.

when we started shooting....the first pot went smooth....but the seal blew out on the pressure pot....so the gun was un usable......in the time i took to find the problem......the gelcoat hardened in the line!......os the gun was toast for that day!.

we took the final little bit of gellcoat and rolled it onto the molds......

this was really difficult for coverage because some of the arbourite was white....so with the white gellcoat, it was impossible to see what was covered and what wasnt!.

this is the aft most bench.

the starboard bench

and finally port.

interior2session2066.jpg

after they were glellcoated....i just waited till they started to cure and jumped on them to glass the first layer of matt on them.

interior2session2067.jpg

remember these pics are a few weeks old.......im just trying to get you guys up to speed on the project......but i gotta say....im really getting stoked about finishing the project.....as of today....the final main glassing on the project will be compleated......the means i just have to fair and paint the top deck.....

so the project is about to move from the construction stage to assembly stage....!.......wow.....finally.

after i post the pics of the compleated bench....ill post on the swim grid....and then the making of the dashboard ans side arm consols.

the 4.3 v6 has been moved into the shop and is ready for instalation...
im just waiting on getting the dshift and sterring cables.....everything else is ready!.

more to come....

cheers
oops

p.s. erik.....i saw your pm.....im not ignoring you....im just thinking about it!

heh heh heh.....the 4.3 is just in there to test the hull and sell the motor!...(so the buyer can see it running)

we just ordered the shift and sterring cables today......

i am setting a new deadline......(here we go...lol )

the boat will see the water running....(not finished)....in less than 30 days. !
after the control cables get here.....the total time to install everything is less than 20 man hours......

so......30 days or less to see the water !

the 4.3 is said to be 190 hp......but i think its more like the 210.....so im a bit confused on the actual hp.

the 4.3 is a fantastic motor....really realiable......i love it.....its a shame im gonna sell it.......but the 300 hp vette motor i got is ....well just a bit better for the boat....lol

i orederd the shifter cables and the sterring cables.........3 weeks.!.....
they are specialty cables and need to be made up....so that means three weeks.....but i still think im gonna make the 30 day dead line for sea tryals.....the sterring and the shiftre can be put in after everything else.

as far as ourt rockets hockey team......we were the 3 seeded in the league, we beat the # 4 seed...(kamloops) in 4 straight......the number 2 seed (tri-city americans) in 6...(after a 14 day layoff we lost the first two then swept the next 4 in a row....
now we are playing the vancouver giants.....a real juggernaught, they were first in our division, #2 in the entire whl, #3 in the entire canadian junior league...(chl)....
we are currently tied at 2 each.....but we shut them out 3-0 last night and kept them to 3 shots on goal in the third........game 5 is saturday (tonight) night in vancouver......so its gonna be a real battle...the winner goes on to play calgary for the whl title and a trip to the memorial cup.....calgary is #1 in the chl and #1 in the whl....but we beat them in the regular season.....so its a really interesting series....said to be the best whl series in history, the teams are that close.

ill post more pics of the benches and gellcoating in the morning before i go to the boat.

cheers

Hellow every one

I just wanted to express my admiration of this project. I went through all previous pages and have gained so much knowledge about glassing process.

Good job " oops! "
My best wishes
