Thanks for that, airshot ! I'll see if they would let me run a quick comp. check. Dry pump shouldn't make any difference. Quick spin. I usually also check firing at the same time. Lektronics aint cheap ! Thanks again, to all ! W

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

I'd like to add 2 things. 1, the plastic 6 gal. tanks I use have a small "hump" partition that is there to give you a little reserve. If the motor dies from no fuel, tip the tank towards the pickup and you've got just enough to get you out of trouble ...... hopefully. 2, them little critters...

    Removing section of bowrider

I have a similar Capri as well, and considered the same mod. Be aware, the seat boxes also contribute to the structural integrity of the hull. The hull thickness is several layers thinner at the floor of the boxes. That glass likely came up the sides when glassing the boxes in. After removing my...

    Adding a Splashwell

Hey A, I have the metal, tools and exp., I might just mock something up using my Lowe 1600 as an example. Its pretty basic, but has a 40 w/remote controls. Not much room in the Sylvan between the transom and the first bench seat. Lotta goodies go down in there. Gas, batteries, ...... and the...

    Adding a Splashwell

    Adding a Splashwell

Hi folks. I have a 14' Sylvan V, short shaft 15 tiller and am considering adding a splashwell. It's a nice little boat that fits me perfectly except for that occasion when an obnoxious wake approaches square to the stern. Had a couple close calls. Small, protected and relatively calm water with...

Purpose of material under fuel tank in aluminum boat?

In the aviation world, similar products are referred to as "anti chafe". It doesn't dampen any vibrations of mating parts, but prevents the abrasive erosion of either component. Many parts/components will ALWAYS move/rub against each other. This just helps to insure they don't eat each other.

Steering cable routing with CMC tilt/trim

I wish I had some pics, maybe later so here goes. Lowe 16' aluminum boat, 40 hp Johnson. Originally, the motor was manual tilt directly on the transom. Someone added a CMC T&T unit which moved the tilt pivot tube for the cable end from inside the transom to the outside. Instead of purchasing a...
