Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

Like I mentioned earlier.....things change everyday around here. My fishing buddy and Kimi's son will not be making the trip with us. Oh, I'm in trouble now. Nobody to keep me in check! We have so many things planned till the first of July and Colt thought he would get bored at Palm Beach. If you have ever been there, you would assume he is correct. It is the playground for the old rich and famous. Not my cup of tea either.

I'm still hoping to bring a load of lobster with me, but there is a system moving this way which may prevent this from happening. We'll just take it as it comes. Eating and sleeping is way overrated anyway.

Looking foreward to meet ya'all. :D

Too bad about Colt not joining us. I hope I get to meet him in September.

Funny you say that... For years, now, I've said "Sleep is highly overrated anyway" Great minds really do think truely alike!!!:D

Just got home, got the Grand kids, took them out to supper and a movie, first movie I have been to in years, they had the volume up too high, severe headache right now. Having said that this time next week I should not care or feel. :D I am ready for the break.

Sasto, Sorry to hear your fishing buddy will not be with us, as you say things change all the time.

Starting final preps for leaving today! Going to pull the bimini top for a good cleaning (stupid birds) and get clothes/food aboard. Also need to inflate the island for a cleaning and inspection. Stupid thing weighs like 75 lbs!

Hopefully the SeaDoo will be with us. Took it to the SeaDoo shop to have the carbs tuned and when they water tested it, they closed the valves for the water flow (not familiar with them since I added them) and seized the pistons to the jugs. DOH! Quality guy, though. Immediately told me, ordered all replacement parts (obviously his dime), and is working Sat & Sun to get it ready for us. On top of that, he cut his hourly shop rate 30% for the initial work that we needed done. And as a side note, just found out he lives 3 doors away from me! He, his wife, and their 2 kids came over the other night. Seems pretty cool. Who knew?

VH, just did a path line on Google Earth. From SA Marina to the mouth of the SJR is 37 miles. From therre, it's another 20 to Jax Landings. More than likely, that is where we will be, but we should me moving east by 7:00-7:30.

ONLY 4 MORE DAYS TILL DEPARTURE!!!

Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

A day of fishing and 2 days of work and I'm outta' here. :D

I have a confession to make......I got hit in the head yesterday, and for some reason I cannot remember anything I've learned about boats. I can't drive one, and I can't even work on one. For the life of me I can't even remember which is starboard and which is port. The good news is my doctor says a few days at St. Augustine sipping on a brew and it will all come back. Sorry I won't be much help.

Looking foreward to meeting my new friends....See Ya' Soon!

Dammit Sasto...I was gonna use that one....

Major cleaning on the boat yesterday. You would not believe the little places that spiders will find to hide. Eewww. Going to finish loading the supplies over the next 2 days. Wednesday morning, the tub gets a quick ***** bath and hopefully we'll be off between noon & 3:00. Probably shuttle vehicles around Tuesday night, so we have a ride once we get to Daytona. Going to slow cruise and enjoy the ride and not be dictated by the timeline. This is the primary reason we decided to leave a half day early.

Here's a quick map we made up of our route, to give those an overview of the trip we make twice a year. 250+ miles to wind up 35 miles away from where we started. Go figure.

That's about what I thought I'd be doing if I were to boat down from Georgia for the get together.

My In-Laws are going to be getting a pontoon boat soon. They'll be taking the river trip to Appalachacola with us later in the season. I'll be helping my Father-in-Law alter his dock to accomodate the pontoon boat. The roof supports need to be moved out at least 6 inches.

Sasto, sorry you bumped your head. We'll do all we can to help in your recovery. Don't know what kind of brew the doc prescribed, but I'm sure Samuel Adams will be fine. I would suggest you make sure, though. I'm a paramedic, not a doctor; it's really not my call... Good thing you still know your way around a fishing rod!!!;) As long as you still remember how to kick back and relax in a boat, we'll be just fine.:)

I think Sasto's will be in good hands. I'm also a Paramedic and the Admiral is an ER nurse. Maybe what we really need is a bartender...

Well worth the good time you will have, Fireman. The last time I was in Daytona I was single, and damn near had a heart attack!

Doc gave me a perscription for Sam Adams, and a fat cigar, veritas honus, and I can't wait to get started. Kick back? Me? Sure, no problems here! I have a meeting Wednesday morning for a couple hours and plan on checking into the Inn sometime mid afternoon. See ya there......my brother!

Bartender? You do know your stuff, Fireman! That's what the Dr. ordered. See ya in St. Augustine, Bubba! (a term us captains use around here to describe a loyal mariner that is like ourselves and can be counted on if needed. We have a whole group of bubbas. ;))

Keeping an eye on the weather at St Augustine and it looks like a typical North Florida weather. High of 88, light winds, not too humid, and some cloud cover. Slight chance of rain. Ought to be fine for those not used to the sun. As for me? My skin is like a salty old leather boot. Bring the sunscreen guys.

Thanks for the well wishes. I will be taking pics and some video throughout the week. I'll get things uploaded as soon I have time, providing I can see straight. After the trip is complete, I am going to string the whole thing together in a video and I'll upload it. You may have to give me a week or two for that. I'll update the thread with it. Keep an eye out in here in a few weeks.

Wish you were going to be there too, Swabbie. Looking foreward to meeting you someday.

I got me one of those new fangled whatchamacallit smart phones. I just may have to post as time progresses.

Putting new line on some of the fishing reels I haven't used in awhile. Gathering up a small tackle box. Bringing an offshore rig with a big hook for a catch and release shark. Some snorkle gear for anyone that wants to explore the depths with me. Packing everything I can think of as long as it fits.

Half day at the shop for me today. Wrapping up little jobs that need to get out. Hopefully the SeaDoo will be ready as well. Inflated and cleaned the Party Island last night. Also gathering a few fishing rigs as well. Charging the cameras, scratching things off of our lists, etc. Quick boat cleanup tomorrow, put the eisenglass curtains up, and we'lll be dropping lines by 2:00 if all goes well.

We will try to post as the trip progresses and I have everyones number in my phone. Looking forward to meeting all of you very soon. Best of luck on your trips. See y'all soon!!

ONLY 1 DAY TILL DEPARTURE!

I really hope you all have a really good time and I can't wait to hear and see all about it.
