Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

VH...I reread Sasto's post and I think (I think?)

ONLY 13 DAYS TILL DEPARTURE! (THAT'S LESS THAN 2 WEEKS, FOLKS!!!)

Sometimes I think (I think?), too!!!:D Sometimes, not so much...;)

Sounds good, veritas honus, will do!

That's right, Fireman. That's my hillbilly talk and thinking going on there. Was just a thought to give veritas honus an option. I'm up for anything!

It all sounds good, sasto.:)

VH...sorry buddy. I had to edit my post. I can't even count anymore. It's actually getting farther away now!!!

As far as your liver, it would probably be quicker to just take it out and beat on it with the heel of an old shoe...

I'll let it slide................................. This time...;)

My liver is a rock... or is that my heart:confused: Well, either way, better be an old shoe, 'cause it won't stand a chance!!! I'd hate to damage a perfectly good shoe...

Pulling the boat Monday or Tuesday to check out the bottom side. Last minute details prior to leaving. Loading the groceries, topping off the fuel tank :)eek:), water tank, clothes, etc.

Might do a little weekender on top of it.

Do you guys realize that we're getting down to single digit days?? Lets keep our fingers crossed for a safe and uneventful journey for all.

ONLY 11 DAYS TILL DEPARTURE!

Sounds like you're having a terrific retirement, Fireman.:) I hope to be so fortunate one day!!! Might do a little weekender, huh? Have a great time for all of us!!!

...Agreed... "A safe and uneventful journey for all"... Well, maybe a few nice events along the way...;)

"Just over a week:D:D" ...And almost single digits, too!!!;)

Retirement? RETIREMENT?? Puh-lleeezzzeee! I'm working more now than I did when I was at the FD! This is not the way it was supposed to be!

My weekender will really be a weekender. Out Saturday am, back Sunday by noon. Just a few miles up the river. You would not believe how dark it is on the SJR at night. It's like being trapped inside a cow.

Then we'll spend the night Wed and be set to leave Thursday am at O-dark-thirty.

Spent today running the SeaDoo a bit. Seems to run pretty well, but I think the carbs need to be tuned. It idles a bit too high. I installed 2 shut off valves on the water intake to the engine for the towing. I found out that if you tow these things, you can force water into the engine and I figure that would end up sucking. Now I just have to remember to open the valves after the tow prior to riding. Burning up the engine would suck, too.

C'mon single digits!

Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

Gonna share something with you, Fireman. I should have shared this with everyone, a long time ago. I meant to. Sometimes, life just gets in the way, so does work, and things just seem to slip away.

Sometime during the first dozen or so pages of this incredible thread, I had an epiphony. It was all because of you, Fireman; and I want to thank you!!!

Fireman, you have discovered the "fountain of youth". Prior to changing your quote to "Where in the nursery rhyme..." You had written "I may not have had the best childhood; but I'm having the longest." It occured to me after reading who knows how many times, how you can't wait for June, will June ever get here, how much longer, ect... that... That's it!!! That's the key to the fountain of youth!! Schedule something incredible far off in advance. Something you know you just can't wait for. Do this often... As much as you can. Remember being a little kid, and how long it took for tomorrow, if your parents told you about something really great that would be happening tomorrow? Children, have so many things to "can't wait for", so time goes slowly as a child. See where I'm going with this? Think about your old quote (which I've quoted:)).

You have indeed discovered the true fountain of youth, Fireman. And it works. You, my Friend, are indeed having "the longest" childhood. You have been blessed, Fireman, with the key to youth and longevity... Thank you for sharing such a blessing!!!:D

I'm glad we are bringing the young'uns. They should help (somewhat) in keeping the reputation of us iboater's in check, and what we are really about. It would be nice to walk away from this event with our heads held high and be proud of who we are, and how we met. I'm going to cut loose, 'cause that's who I am and what I do. It is necessary for me to keep the infamous salty captain reputation up, and I'm a pro at it. I don't think any of you guys and gals need any lessons.

We are looking foreward to a cold Sam Adams weekend. See ya soon.....Mike and Kimi.

You are a blessed man too, veritas honus. A beautiful wife and children, a hard working man, a great husband and father, and a wonderful insight on life. I feel like you are already a brother and friend. Thanks for sharing! :D

Funny how things work sometimes... Nlain and sasto were talking about The Bayfront Inn toward the beginning of this thread. From the 15th through the 18th, That's where my family and I will be staying, compliments of The City of St Augustine.:) My wife received confirmation yesterday.

Sasto, will you and Kimi be staying there?, nlain, how about you and yours?

Can't wait to meet everyone!!!

It's getting closer and closer!!!:D:D:D

VH, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for those touching words. It's hard to imagine a quick quip like that could spur so much soulful insight, but I'm glad it did. If only everything I said meant that much to someone! I am truly looking forward to meeting everyone as I feel we know each other, but really don't know each other. Y'know? I'm look ing forward to putting a face with the name. And a voice, even if it is a NY accented one...:)

There are very few things that I say often enough, and that I hope sticks with people. My favorite one is:
"There are 2 rules when looking at problems. 1) Don't sweat the small stuff, 2) It's all small stuff".

You'll have to start making plans for the September excursion during our weekend to keep your epihany strong! And Sasto is correct...you, too, are a blessed man.

10 MORE DAYS TILL DEPARTURE!!

My group will be next door at the Marion Motor Lodge, I wish it would hurry up and get here.

Fireman you are the man, in fact all of you, Fireman, Sasto, VH, are the man, uuhh men.:D You understand. I will be there when you get there from Jax. I am ready for the party, course if the kids will be fishing I will be with them and hoping they will get a fish, if not a biggun, at least a fish. They will be hooked then, that will mean I will have to take them fishing more, that is ok, I would enjoy them having fun fishing. There are many other things they could be doing that is bad for them, fishing is good.

Man, there's a whole lot of thank you's, and blessing going on around here!!!:)

Fireman, your thank you is graciously accepted, and appreciated. Again, thank you for the inspiration!!!

We've got one terriffic little group here. I can't even describe how much I've enjoyed this thread; but I have a confession to make. I'm in 11th grade. I'm not married, and the boat in my avatar belongs to my Uncle Joe...

Nnnaaahhh!!! Just kidding. I don't even have an Uncle Joe.:p But anyway...

This has been one heck of a ride, hasn't it? Probably should have kept the confession bit going for a little while. Don't want to leave anyone with a bad taste in their mouth, though.

Funny you mention the "September excursion", and sasto in the same line of thought. I say that because him and I have been talking about my family joining him and Kimi for a visit at their place in September.

You've started something really big, Fireman. You've created something which has had an indescribably positive impact on several lives. My wife is so excited about all of this. My children can't wait to go to St Augustine and meet everyone. There's no doubt in my mind that it's the same with nlain and his wife; and his grandchildren don't even know about it yet. What a great suprise!!! I know sasto and Kimi are as excited, and sasto's a proffessional boater. I'm sure he's not so much excited about the boating aspect of this get together as he is the group of friends which has been created by it... And there's something else...
