Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

Regarding Sasto's get together in September, the wife and I are already planning on attending, unless we get the "thanks-but no thanks" from Mike and Kimi!

It's funny you mentioned Uncle Joe. I have an Uncle Joe. Only his name isn't Joe, it's Ted. And by uncle, I mean some guy I met on the internet...:facepalm:

After months of talking and planning, this has seemed to grow legs and I can't wait to see who actually shows up. Regardless, I think it's gonna be great. Meet new friends and add another chapter to your book of life. I want to see Sasto's salty sea captain side...Arrggghhh!

I think my initial count down started around 70+ days. Here we are at (honestly) "Just over a week!"

Sasto, will you and Kimi be staying there?, nlain, how about you and yours?

Yes, veritas honus. We will be at the Bayfront. Reservations made for the 15th thru the 18th. More good news!......Kimi's 15yr old son will be with us. He is a good friend to me and my fishing buddy. We became fishing buddies before I met Kimi. How wonderful life is!

There are very few things that I say often enough, and that I hope sticks with people. My favorite one is:
"There are 2 rules when looking at problems. 1) Don't sweat the small stuff, 2) It's all small stuff".

You'll have to start making plans for the September excursion during our weekend to keep your epihany strong! And Sasto is correct...you, too, are a blessed man.

10 MORE DAYS TILL DEPARTURE!!

You and I are on the same page, Fireman. If Kimi hears you say "don't sweat the small stuff" she will swear it is coming from me. September is on!

My group will be next door at the Marion Motor Lodge, I wish it would hurry up and get here.

Fireman you are the man, in fact all of you, Fireman, Sasto, VH, are the man, uuhh men.:D You understand. I will be there when you get there from Jax. I am ready for the party, course if the kids will be fishing I will be with them and hoping they will get a fish, if not a biggun, at least a fish. They will be hooked then, that will mean I will have to take them fishing more, that is ok, I would enjoy them having fun fishing. There are many other things they could be doing that is bad for them, fishing is good.

No worries, nlain. With Kimi and Colt being there I have a feeling fishing will be going on the whole time we are at the dock. You are correct, fishing is good for them, and I am sure Kimi and I will have them hooked for life.

Man, there's a whole lot of thank you's, and blessing going on around here!!!:).

You've started something really big, Fireman. You've created something which has had an indescribably positive impact on several lives. My wife is so excited about all of this. My children can't wait to go to St Augustine and meet everyone. There's no doubt in my mind that it's the same with nlain and his wife; and his grandchildren don't even know about it yet. What a great suprise!!! I know sasto and Kimi are as excited, and sasto's a proffessional boater. I'm sure he's not so much excited about the boating aspect of this get together as he is the group of friends which has been created by it.
You are soooo right, veritas honus. We thank Fireman for putting this thing together.

I'm been following this thread closely and have to say I am sooooooooooooooo damn envious of you all!!!
Wish I could be there:(

Wish you were here too, marcoalza.

Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

Well, I have some good news and some bad news...

First the good news. Pulled the boat this morning. The bottom hasn't seen the light of day for a year and desperatly needed a shave. 3 hours with a pressure washer and it's good to go. I will need it painted next year, but it's not imperative right now. Ran a gauge and measurements across the props and shafts and all is good after the grounding. No bent props, no bent shafts, rudders true and all bushings still shiny brass.

Now the bad news...filled the gas tank today. It was only at half a tank...$700 later!!!! OMG!!

We'll be out this Saturday if the rain holds off so the Admiral can get used to the Sea Doo prior to us dragging it half way around the state. Also want to do a practice tow with it to make sure it tracks true.

Possible pics coming from that...

Single digits!---9 TO GO!

P.S. VH...new signature line, just for you!

Alright folks... I didn't say much in my last post, and I left it pretty abruptly... Sorry about that. I was at work and had to leave abruptly when a critical patient had to be transported. He was supposed to be ready to go at 1915hrs, but it got delayed. Then all of the sudden, it's now.

Marcoalza, I know you'll be with us in spirit. We'll have a toast in your honor, and you can be sure you'll be talked about. Nothing but good things marcoalza... You've brought a lot of positive energy to iboats!!!

Sasto, I'm in 100% agreement in your thoughts that the children keeping us in check is a good thing... especially since we're staying in the same hotel!!! Let's face it, it's only made of bricks...

Nlain, I wish I could see the looks on your grandchildren's faces when they find out about what this visit is really going to entail!!! So much positive energy going around, affecting so many different people.

Fireman, what can I say... This is all you, Buddy!!! When you started this thread, do you think you could ever possibly even have imagined what it developed in to? There simply are no words, Fireman. Can't wait to meet you and your family!!!

Mnypitboat, NSBCraig, and everyone else who should be there, this is going to be a vacation to remember!!!

Well, Everyone... Sasto and I had a quick round of phone tag today... he won. He'd left a voicemail for me yesterday or the day before and I just got it this morning. It's now 2030hrs. I havn't slept in fifty three hours, now. I'm going to say goodnight, for a while, anyway...

VH, Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. I am ready for a break and this is the one. I sure hope that everyone that has said they will be there can make it, with or without a boat. I think this will be a good weekend, hope I can remember it. LOL

What is the plan for Friday? We are taking the Jeep up the coast, and will be in town around noonish. What will be going on for meals etc? Do we have a plan or is it a SOTP type weekend. We just dont wanna show up at the marina empty handed if we are planning on hanging all night.

I know for sure Saturday we are meeting the Active Boating guys late morning and going to OC Whites for lunch.

Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

pitboat, so far I think you are the only one who developed any plan. Big plans, any plans, no plans, I'm game for however it turns out. We should all be arriving sometime noonish-2:00 on Friday, depending on the tides and travel conditions. Give someone a call when you get there and we'll let you know where we are.

We made a slight change in our departure plans. We were set to leave early Thursday morning. I wanted to get to the Jacksonville Landings by Thursday night, but that may have been pushing it because I don't want to run the SJR thru western Jax at night...too many crab traps in the channel to look out for. We decided that when the boat is all stocked up, washed, and set to go Wednesday, we're just going to leave then, probably later afternoon. We'll spend the night on the hook somewhere near Lake George and get out early Thursday morning. We should be hitting Jax Landings early Thursday afternoon. We'll just hang there for the night and it will be a short trip to the ICW from there. Easy meet up with VH & Sasto after that.

Now, if I can just shake off this absolutely friggin' headache I have...

Sounds good, we just didnt wanna show up without anything to the dock and have to leave to eat if you guys were all eating there. Of course we carry a cooler everywhere so drinks are not an issue.

Fireman,

Do I remember you commenting about shooting a video of the trip?

Maybe it's just my wanting to use those things I learned in college but I've always wanted to do some videos of trips on the water.

I'm not thinking including the family or party just the trip, more like a camera mounted to the hardtop or arch.

I think it would be too cool to be able to watch the trip your planning/ dreaming about before you go. Personally I'd have the videos playing on my bar tv's all the time (well not when a race is on or powerboating in paradise).

I know your busy getting ready but I really just had to remind you about this (if it was only in my head though I guess I'm telling you about it instead).

Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

I just stumbled into this thread, and I've got a little bad news. I'll be leaving St. Agustine on that Friday and there very well may not be anything alcoholic left. Hopefully they'll have a re-stock truck in before noon, but if not, please accept my sincere apologies.

Hope you guys all have a great time, as I'm sure you will. It's been a cool thread to read. We need more like it and it's about time there was some Florida folks getting together instead of all those Michiganders......just kiddin'!!!

You're right. Absolute doesn't give me a headache. I think it was the half dozen shots that went along with it (Mini-beer shots...not really beer, though...I'll explain later)! I have decided that the liver is an evil organ and it must be punished.

I'm going to video portions of the trip, but not the entire thing. I want to take pics/video and run it together with maps, music, and images in MovieMaker. When it's done, I'll post it or at least send each person a link to the video.
