Re: North Georgia get-together?

Well, real life interferes. I am out for this Saturday, as work has required me to be in all day.

I was out last weekend, and could not find a sizable beach anywhere in the Browns Bridge area.

I am still game for the Alatoona get-together for next month (as of now)

I will still be out at Lanier this Saturday for anyone that still wants to come out. I was out a few weeks ago and seen a few beaches around 3 sisters that should hold half a dozen or so smaller boats (19 footers)

Re: North Georgia get-together?

Hey Guys,

Unfortunate, I just found out that I have to be in North Carolina the July 21-22 weekend to see some family. I couldn't reschedule it, and you know how family events are, you can't move them once they are set in stone.

I would still like to meet up with some fellow Allatoona boaters sometime though. Hopefully we can meet up on the lake and have a little hang out.

I've just gotten off working weekend shifts, so I would be able to attend an Allatoona meet up...

The Corps is letting water out pretty good. Allatoona is up almost 2 feet, but if they weren't aggressive about releasing I wouldn't want to see it.

Heard on the news, the Metro area has had rain for 29 straight days, We're going to need a Ark.

No Joke, and it just keeps on coming. Suposedly we are going to have a nice Saturday, with rain returning Sunday. Next week looked to be fairly dry, though. I've been out a few times on Lanier, but have yet to find a really usable beach.

Looking forward, though; does anyone have a spot in mind at Allatoona, and where would the nearest boat ramp be? Just want to start getting an idea of the who/what/where.

Thanks

Eric

So, is the Allatoona meet up on for the 20th or not? Haven't seen anything about it lately...
There is supposed to be fireworks on the lake that night.

Well from past experience when they have fireworks there are a lot of boats on the water and the ramps will be busy. Sunday might be better, or maybe even the following week ??? I'll go with the flow. Not sure if a location has been posted yet ??? I will be more than likely be launching from the Blockhouse ramp, but I can go any where.

Re: North Georgia get-together?

I still don't know where to launch or where we are going to meet up. Additionally, I know that the Pirates of Lanier Poker Run is this weekend, don't know if anyone was participating.

Weather also looks to continue to be crap. I'm for moving this back.

Honestly with all the rain, I have been a bit hesitant to head out to the lake on any weekend.

I'll do what everyone else decides. If we are a go, and want to leave it for Sunday, that's fine by me. Lets just get a plan as to where we can launch and where we are going to meet.

Re: North Georgia get-together?

Moving it back a week would be cool with me, that way I can get to go, as I will be out of town this weekend! I am planning on going up to Allatoona this week sometime, see what the levels look like. I kind of thought we were thinking of meeting at the island just before bridge into red top mtn. That area can handle about 4 to 5 boats I think.....I think GABoater posted a Topo map with the location of the island....

Re: North Georgia get-together?

Here is my original post with the map. Weather and fireworks aren't a great mix in my opinion. I'm for moving back a week to Saturday the 27th. This W/E has 60%/40% of rain with thunder boomers. I don't mind a smaller chance of rain, but I don't have a bed on the boat to crawl under when the skies light up. Opinions/thoughts?

I think you're talking about #1 in the attached. It's a good place. #2 is good too, behind an island and #3 is just south of the bridge has a decent cove formed by the island that's only an island at high water. #1 is protected nicely from wakes on the main lake. Any other ideas folks?

Dang Summer!

Just a note that Aquapalooza is on the 27th on Lanier. I've registered, but I'm not married to the idea of going...
