I am down with moving this thing back to sometime in August! I just want to get out on the water and meet all these fellow Iboaters!

I'm for that too. Average rainfall in August is less than 4 inches. Of course that means nothing this year.

I want to put some faces on some of the user names. :joyous:

Third Vote for that. I looked at the weather report and again we are looking at mostly cloudy and 50% chance of t-storms for the weekend. Maybe August will be kinder.

Re: North Georgia get-together?

I posted this in another thread I had started about boating at night. Just thought I'd share my experience here as well:

Went to the fireworks show last on Lake Allatoona. It was great, but the trip back to the dock was a bit nerve-racking. Not so much the other boats, but the waves created by hundreds of boats! I made the mistake of staying out in the middle of the lake where seemingly all the wave action was going on - i probably should have stuck closer to shore...
Anyway, we had almost a full moon last night, albeit a bit overcast, so seeing where we were going wasn't much of a problem.
Overall a very fun night and experience!

Cool, I am glad you had fun. Allatoona Lake can be a bit "wavey" in my opinion, mainly because it is pretty narrow, I think. Anyway, I always have problems with waves and wakes in my little boat, especially when going up the channel near Glade Marina......Got any pics of the fire works?

Re: North Georgia get-together?

Here is my original post with the map. Weather and fireworks aren't a great mix in my opinion. I'm for moving back a week to Saturday the 27th. This W/E has 60%/40% of rain with thunder boomers. I don't mind a smaller chance of rain, but I don't have a bed on the boat to crawl under when the skies light up. Opinions/thoughts?

I'll be coming in from the south (Blockhouse Ramp ) so any place will work, #3 is closer, but they are close enough to each other anyway. I've seen a lot of boats rafting at #1. The lake is at full pool, all we need now is some sun and less rain.

OK, we can't let this die! If anything, we just need to have an impromptu meet-up this weekend? I am planning on getting up to Allatoona today after work, and hopefully more this weekend! If anyone is up for it, and see this today, let me know, I will be checking back throughout the day! I'll be in a yellow 1979 Sea Ray 190! Boat Pic.jpg

Probably on the island before the bridge into Red-Top Mountain, if no one is there before I get there.....The dog likes to run around...

yjanray,

We were at the Island close to the bridge on Monday, it looked good. Can't make it this weekend, I'm doing USCG boat inspections at Harbor Town.

Ahh bummer, but yea that picture looks like the sweet spot. My wife and I love that spot, and the dog loves it too. Well, I will be out there this afternoon, so any other takers?!

I guess we need to get another weekend nailed down, so lets get started on that, before this weird summer is over!

Re: North Georgia get-together?

well, I went out there this weekend, and it was great! The only thing that bothers the crap out of me is all of the beer cans and garbage that people leave piled up in a fire pit on that island! Anyway, we need to get this thing together, and put some faces to the avatars!

Re: North Georgia get-together?

I'm thinking of building a dock outside the front door and mooring the boat there just in case Cherokee county decides to wash away. And I'm 6 miles from the lake.

Yeah yj - people are pretty much pigs. If we ever get to spend some time together, maybe do a little clean-up of the area and set a good example.

Re: North Georgia get-together?

We tried to get out last weekend. Gambled on Saturday instead of Sunday, and lost. We got dumped on for a solid hour before the rain slacked enough to run back to the boat ramp. At least I know my bilge pump works, but I am thinking of putting in a float switch now. Who knew that a boat was so good at collecting rainwater!

A local church message board had "Has anyone seen Noah?". I think glen-l.com is working on stitch and glue Ark plans.

Re: North Georgia get-together?

I see most of you guys posting are fairly close, where on the lake do you mainly hang out?
"yjanray", It seems like I have seen your boat a couple of times in flamingo cove. I am on the lake at least twice a week/weekend, if in flamingo cove I'm usually tied up with two or three friends boats(blue century/red AR210 yamaha). I have a green/white Renken 210.
