Re: hull extension in progress with picks

I'm trying to convince oops! to forget the theme for now and get it in the water and get it running and do the rest over the winter but it's not working. The grab rail is on,the tank is in,and the helm is on but that's about it. It is looking like a boat again and it's in the parking lot but there's a ways to go yet.

this thing is 21 pages long now. Is there a ETA on when you are going to be finished? It seems slow going as of late. You are going faster than I am but the pace you started with is nothing near the pace that has been as of late. Just wondering if I am going to see this thing in the water in my lifetime LOL. I love this project though and Im still skeptical of the extension part of the hull. I think that It is crucial to the maiden voyage as far as if it holds up without cracking the new gelcoat cause of stress from the stern flexing. Im addicted though to this thread!

Wow, I think I'm blind now from reading and catching up on this. I just recently joined iboats and found the thread.

Wow opps, like many others have said, you got some really big cojones for even attempting this. Here I am afraid to R&R my stern drive and replace the flooring on my boat and you've built a modern day Queen Mary!!!! WTG, you da man for sure!

I can't wait to see how she's looking now.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

gee guys....now i feel like a real jerk for forgetting my camera last night....lol

i am still going with the theme.....but the push is for the water.....

as no klu said.....the boat is out of the shop right now....i have the wind sheild back on....the saftey rail....the cap is screwed on....the gas tank is in and hooked up...the new helm is in...i have some of the gauges in....but not yet wired....ill do that today i hope....i have to get a 4 inch hole saw for the bigger gauges, and some of the engine vents.......and also get started on installing the shifter....noklu's big thing is over the steering wheel he wants me to just go buy one.....and i want the one that is for the theme.....even tho the theme wont appear on the wheel right now.

we currently have family in town....so im doing the tourist things....and doing some water taxi-ing with the bilge liner.

hi andy....

the problem with the pace now...is other things like work and life are getting in the way....lol
in the construction phase of the boat....it seems that each hour is a step forward...
but for the past year i have been sanding....and that is a never ending chore..with little reward for work accomlished....but im out of that phase now..and each hour spent on the boat see's some kind of major accomplishment..the boat has taken huge leaps forward in the last week alone....ill have pics tonight....i promise not to forget my camera....lol

im hoping to see the engine going in ....very soon......very....very soon.....
then.....the water.

and i know that you are concerned about the strength of the hull and the flex.........trust me........the thing is a really strong tank.....really really strong........i am not the least bit worried about the hull....it is stronger and better built then any boat on the water today.....the only thing to worry about is the weight....lol.....but....we'will see soon

Man! This is an incredible project. I thought decking my duck boat was an adventure. I just spent the better part of a day reading through and looking at your progress over the last few years. I cant wait to see this thing finished. Congrats on a one of a kind great looking boat!

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

ok.....lets see.......

lots done.....

the cap is screwed down.........no rub rail yet.....thats later....its just to hull test.

the rail is also on.....the bow light is on and wired to the dash area...
the docking lights are wired to the dash area.

asembly049.jpg

this fuel filler cap was re located to the edge of the cap....it used to be near the middle of the cap. ....sitting on the front deck leaning on the windsheild is a fave spot on mine.....so it needed to be moved.

asembly048.jpg

every one that sees inside the boat is astounded how much deck space there is.....this is from the back of the boat......lol....its a small dance floor.....just need the pole....!

asembly046.jpg

as you can see the windsheild is in place.......the gauges are cut out....and some installed....( i gotta get a big hole saw for the speedo and tach holes)...

also....in the middle....the black thing is the helm....and the bezel is on.

asembly045.jpg

this is a side shot......the box on the cap is the gas tank sender that i tested and installed today.

asembly044.jpg

more to come soon.......

cheers

Chicken!!!!!! Thats the only good pic of that wheel period. If any of you out there can remember the opening scenes of the Fred Flintstone show the steering wheel on freds car is an exact copy of the one oops! wants on his Boat :eek::eek: Actually freds is better cause he used hardwood and not scrap plywood.:D

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Hmmmmm, is the dance pole a hint towards the theme possibly?

Come to think of it, thats an excellent idea, a strip club on the water, :D
