I am replacing a transom on an outboard now getting to the point soon where I will be attaching. It back to the boat. I watched all three vids of u installing yours nice job. I didn't know if I could get your opinion on something? I can't find 1\4 in chopped fibers. I was wandering if I use short strand kitty hair mixed with resin to thin it the same way u use peanutbutter?

Check out us composites, or fiberglasssite.com. They will have it. I would not use the kitty hair, as I found it to be too long.

Hey Jay,

That is such a cool updated look on your instrument gauge cluster! I vote for the light blue also! If you can find the light, or dude sends you one!

Glad all works, hopefully the tach is good also!

J I like the blue as well matches the boat! Didn't your wiring harness have master plug to disconnect from the main harness? my 96 does makes it allot easier to remove gauges and such without disconnecting the battery. Also your productions are getting better and better and I will be looking into your facebook site I like the part with the power buying and deals. Keep up the good informative work BIG FAN!!!!

The new gauges definitely look much classier and appropriate for the boat...

'puter is slow tonight, still waiting for the vid...

I found a vendor on Ebay that sells LEDS for gauges, complete with the socket, here is a link... http://myworld.ebay.com/kunkunh2009/

I bought some red LEDS from him for my gauges, and was very pleased with the price and quality...just make sure you tell him exactly the right size, etc. you are looking for...

The royal blue is cool...but it may be one of those things that you have to get out and test to see if you like it. Sometimes I look at something like that and think that it is cool, but after I use it for a while it begins to annoy me. I don't know just my humble opinion.

I also think that the gauges look primo. I am a chrome fan though :)

Those gauges really make your instrument panel look sharp. Night and day in my opinion. And I agree with previous posts: the blue is definitely the color.

Would you mind sharing the make and style of the gauges? It may be in your video, however my system is a little slow right now and I cannot view. So far these gauges would be my top choice in my restoration. thanks.

I'm going to do the blue led theme as well. Let me know what you order and I'll do the same :)

They are Teleflex gauges. I paid a little over 200 for the whole set on ebay.

Great build. To noisy for my taste (yes I keep the stock exhaust on my bikes...) but you sure did some clean work.
Looks like it will outlast you!

Excellent, thank you! Look like they are probably the Sterling series. I would have said I'll be installing these this summer, but I am learning my lesson... maybe next Spring 2013!

I can only say great job. You give me ideas for my own boat. It needs restoration. But right now it is under the snow. It's really hard for me to try to clear all that snow from my boat. I live in greenland and the weather is little cold. :) about -41 celsius now.
So when I see some of you complaining about your weather I just think. "thank goodness youre not here"
Anyway my boat is almost the same as yours. I have starcraft eurostar 171 cc. I will start my restoration as soon as I can see my boat. :D

That is the beauty of that exhaust system. When you want quiet, you just flip the switch... and bam.. quiet.

I could not imagine it being that cold.

I am not sure what models they are, but you may be right.

Hey Jay,

Just finished this whole thread along with every video, and the Glastron thread and videos, too. I gotta say you do some damn fine work.

I have to admit that the video you put together with the Alan Jackson song choked me up and brought a tear to my eye. And that's saying quite a bit coming from this jaded old fart.

I've never done a boat restoration, but I've brought back a few old cars and I can tell you this: As gut wrenching as it must have been when you first discovered the rot, now that she's back in shape this boat is truly YOURS in a way that someone who just writes a check at a dealer will never quite understand.

You've got one gorgeous boat there, and I hope you feel every ounce of pride that you've earned every time you back that trailer down into the water.

Here's wishing you and your family many years of fun times and happy memories out on the water!

Great work!

Hey Jay,
I helped a friend put some of these on his Searay a few weeks ago. We put 2 blue "S" underwater LEDs just above the trim tabs and some LED strips under the gunnels and dash. It came out real nice.

Re: Here I go again!! 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration

jay, i know you did your searay build awhile ago but i had a question. i noticed you used bilgekote on the glastron when you did that boat, but used gelcoat on the searay. was that just bc you had gelcoat already for the deck and just wanted to use it, or did you have issues with the bilgekote? im debating what to do my bilge and ski locker in
