Hey Jas,

I've found a motor for that Islander...or perhaps your 26 footer instead. Comes with a free chainsaw, which you could use for your annual wood-chopping party.

Hey thanks for stopping by fellas:joyous:

Peter, that's a nice saw, but, uh, man, she'd be kinda tough to move around when I'm limbing eh:rolleyes::facepalm:

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

OK fellas, little change in direction for the Islander. I have decided to make this open bow boat a cabin boat now.

KIDDING! JUST MESSIN WITH YA! I KID!!!!:D

Nah, just a slight deviation in the build. The actual use of this Islander will probably be the bigger change. I've been just thinking over the last couple of days, and, well, grab a strong cup of coffee...

Yah, that's it, no big whoop, nothing major really.

Basically, the short version:

The New Sea Nymph: small water, rivers, inland lakes, near shore waters of the Great Lakes, true fishing rig. But still pull a tube if the day strikes us just right.

The 261 Sportfisherman: Big water, offshore fishing, Great Lakes stuff. But, if the fishing is slow, and the conditions are right, we could pull a tube all over the place.

This Islander: FAMILY FUN BOAT!! Tube, ski, wakeboard, have fun! But, if we wanted to fish some, we could certainly do that too.

Cheers!:becky:

Some good thought out plans for the 3 boats. That's how I sold my admiral on the Chief, a no stress fun cruiser.

Oh hey King of the bottom feeders do you remember the newly upholstered back to back seats in my donor? I still have them

Hey man, thanks for thinking of me!

I'll prolly go with all white to match the rest of the boat, like...

Wise Deluxe Lounge Seat - Walmart.com

Man, that's a super deal on those Wise seats too!:joyous:

And really your not cured of MBS, so who says three boats is enough. :D

Oh man, I am so all set with boats, I will not need another boat! Ever!

(Well, until I "need" another one, then ya. But until then, no.:cool-new:)

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Isn't there a canoe floating around over there somewhere that didn't make that list ^^^ ???

Still a multi-purpose Islander, primarily for fun & skiing, though still able to be fished, which ever the BOAT wants to do that day????

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Man oh man, I drop off for three months right about the time somebody starts drawing red lines on a cabin boat and I come back 16 pages later to find a topless Starcraft that still hasn't been splashed... Yeah ok so I haven't done any boat work at all... but I have learned that apparently wood fires and Christmas lights when used in combination can lead to crew expansions! It'll be September or so before that splash date Lord willing but before then I might have to live vicariously through your threads. In other words I'm glad you have two more boats to build!!!

Gosh, I do have two more full on major oat build projects now don't I. Ugh:rolleyes:

Cool!

Short list from here:

#2 Pull off the Bert's Tracks

#3 Rehab and paint the gunwales all the way around

Guys, have a great weekend:joyous:

Dig the 3 boats with different purpose! It's tough to find a boat that does it all!

I was also thinking a padded sundeck to cover engine, extra storage, and a bench seat would be killer if it's gonna be a ski/pleasure craft may as well go nuts doood! Not sure if you have room with the back to back seat idea though... Just a thought!

Plenty of room for batteries! :fencing:

Throw one of these in front of the motor, add a large sun deck

Yah, this will be the family fun boat but a giant couch in the back might be going a little too far eh.

I'll definitely have a pair of jump seats on either side of the dog house though, that'll serve the purpose:joyous:

I don't have problems!

Jas, I think I have the ready for any boating situation figured out for you. Build a double canoe rack on the top of the 26footer, install a small crane over the dog house of same 26 footer to carry the bowlander sideways across the transom, and pull the seanymph with the transom eyes. I'm still trying to figure out the trailer set up for this, but I got a pot of strong coffee brewing, so I'll get back to you on that:D

Ok here's my honest opinion! The 26' for salmon no question but only for salmon! 16' all around rivers, inland lake boat. The 22' needs to be your Saginaw Bay boat. You don't want to dink around changing gear back and forth. Here is all you need for walleye. 6-8 cheap levelwind combos with line counters ($35 each), inline boards (also for salmon), and crawler harnesses with weights (bottom bouncers or inline) quick and easy. Crawlers with newspaper are minimal mess. small cooler to throw fish in and rod holders (also for salmon). Big walleye run is May to July. Takes 5 minutes to throw the stuff in the boat and away we go! If you try to use the 26 there will be a lot of messing around (I had to do it this year) and it is a big boat for walleye (remember you need to go 1.1-1.6 mph). Just my opinion.

Must still be in the deepfreeze over in Jas land, not much happening around here, I had to go back four pages to find the thread.
