Carp, if he shows up w/ a truck load of tools, keep a close eye on him...

But he can run an mean air driven riveter :)

Nice looking trailer project, there's lots of stuff online about redoing the interior of vintage trailers. Sky is the limit w/ amount, type & cost of lumber....

The BF will look great camping w/ that trailer & the VW...

My Son has brought home another project.
We hope to make her look like this one....

Why did I have the feeling you were up to something......

Very cool project...and I firmly believe you are selling yourself short...yours is gonna put the one pictured to shame! No offense intended to the owner of that one, but I know who I am dealing with...;)

Have fun and keep us posted!

This guy took the words right out of my mouth. Looks like a fun winter project to keep you out of trouble.

Does she leak? You'll have to stock up on the 5200.

Hey Wood, I think you guys need another project or two. I've got a 1974 VW Thing I'm about to peddle. Just needs a few odds and ends. Great lil car for grandson to drive to hi school. All set for street or desert. It'll pull that trailer all over hell and damnation. Just don't want you guys to get bored over the winter!

youll find everything you want to know about vdubs at the Samba sight or through its links. Like iBoats, it's got loads of great tech info and project ideas. As for the buss clutch and trans, know that 90% of all racing sand buggies use some form of the buss tranny and clutch system.

good luck with both those projects, and like everyone one else here ill be watching too.

Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement. She appears to be Watertight. The roof has a Bunch of "Tar" on top so she must have leaked at some point in time. Not sure yet if we're gunna "Do it Right" and replace the roof, or leave her be. Knowing me, I'll prolly replace the roof. Hemet, California has a supplier for all the aluminum for these old trailers but it IS pricey. We'll see how the funding goes. I need to make some Adirondack furniture to sell to make some funds for the trailer. I also have a custom Hope Chest that a friend of mine wants me to make so Maybe I can make enuf to pay for this restore. The Bus runs GREAT so no issues there. Already bought everything to fix it, just need more funds for the trailer. I'm thinking the 5200 will be the sealant of choice or at the very least 4200. We're also thinking about replacing the front bottom 3rd with Aluminum Diamond plate. I saw some with that and think it looks sharp. I also have a lot of little things to do to the BF soooo....It's gunna be a BIZEEEEE Winter. If anyone want's to come and help, I have a spare bedroom and the wife IS a good cook!!!!!!:D

P.S. Let me know if you want me to stop posting about all this NON-Boat Stuff.

To all my iBoat Friends on the upcoming Holiday....

  • In gratitude, we humbly reflect upon all the gifts (family, friends, health) that saturate our lives.
  • By “giving-thanks” we choose to extend ourselves and give to others less fortunate.
  • Out of the abundance of our hearts, we are able to offer our resources to help others!
