Still got lots of little finishing details to take care of in the spring but she was good enuf to splash.

BTW, a guy like you surely has a winter project planned. What is it? Woodworking? Upholstery? A tender for the BF?

Sea ya.

That VW bus has got to be photographed towing the BF at least once!

I've always wanted a 21 window VW bus. When ya dream, might as well dream big :D

Great family guys/man project! Awesome.....

I hope your grandson gets to drive it to his prom

Sweet project. We gotta get a pic of the vintage bus pulling the vintage motorboat.

I, too, love the split-windshield buses, and that one looks like a prime example. They're all long gone here in the northeast (road salt). Great project. Best of luck with it.

Great thing to keep you occupied during the winter. Hope you're going to keep that little fringe along the top of the side wall!

jb & kfa, I think those buses were lucky to be able to pull themselves. You'd probably lose the clutch on the first outing!

Wood, you'll have to start a thread somewhere so we can follow the VW project, love your work.

Yeah, we plan on starting one here...TheSamba.com :: Volkswagen Classifieds, photos, shows, forums, and information
My son put the headliner in. Its Old Levi's cut up and glued to 1/4" insulation and then glued to the top. The back pockets of the jeans makes great storage pouches. He's got a lot of design ability. Got it from his Mother not me!!!!! As soon as we get the Project set up I'll make sure and post the link. His dream is a 21 window as well, but rare and expensive!!!!! He got a Lot of mechanical GENES from his Grandpa so he totally rebuilt the engine and it runs like a new one. Once we get the body work and the interior done it should look and run like a new one.

Well if you can't get the bus to tow the boat, you'll simply have to make it an amphibious-bug-bus-boat :) My mom had an old 50-something, coral pink bug when we were growing up. It was the best little car ever. Smelled like straw. I love how the car is air-cooled and more low tech than water-cooled boat motor too :) Danke.

and an even bigger

CONGRATS on 40th Anniversary!

^^^^That's something not easily accomplished.^^^^
Thanks for all the help, knowledge, and wisdom shared.
:)

The van project looks really cool! Definitely need a tow pic as the first thought that crossed my mind was taking the BF camping.

Great looking bus WOG. :D

Reminds me of the Men at Work song, "Land Downunder"...

Travelling in a fried-out Kombi
on a hippie trail, head full of zombie...

Welcome back, how much fun did you and the Admiral have in Gatlinburg?......

BTW, I have already bookmarked the "Samba" site and awaiting further instructions on where to look for the V-dubs gallery...I know the Flamingo is temporarily on the back burner, due to winter settling in, so you know we need another one of your projects to look in on...;)
