Polishing aluminum sucks! Getting closer.

Finished painting the interior, installed the splashwell, Gluvit done, & started with the floatation.

Looking real good!

Are you going to get fish slime on that jewel when you're done with it?

I'm not much of a fisherman so it probably wont see much fish slime. I have two brothers that will fish before anything else so it is possible that they will talk me into it. Now that I think about it, that would give me one more reason to put the boat in the water!!

Been following from the start and lost the title to thread and wanted subscribe! Love the look of the rig with it's new paint and the polished aluminum looks fantastic even if it's not complete.

Re: 1959? 18' Lund runabout restore

Just a really nice restore, Ive owned modern day Lunds as one of my fishing boats, and I love em, they are built so well and have really great resale value. The reputation is really good. You will have an incredable boat when you finish, and my guess is it "could" be worth a bunch of $$ to the right person. Or you could just own the nicest boat on your lake, forever. Really impressed with your find and all the work!!
That polished hull makes me wish my Lone Star was tin, but then I'd be missing all that glass work and itching. Thanks for posting all your work and results.

Thanks greenbush! I dont have a lot of experience with boats but I do think this is a well put together boat.
I will know that glass work & itching all to well in the future. Floor in my Larson is weak.

Uh-Oh!!!

Cold weather would be a good time to get that deck ripped out and all the grinding done, then put it back together when it starts warming up.

That's a good looking boat too!

Going to need a lot more time to get properly motivated for the itchy scratchy part:D. And... I really dont want another boat tore apart right now.
She is in very good shape with the exception of the floor & I will assume the transom.

I have two of the round fenders -both '67's. The other one has been completely restored & doesnt get used much. The one with the stack gets used a lot -using it to plow snow now. I like a little rumble in my Harley too so the noise it makes doesnt bother me & I live way out in the pickers so it wont bother anyone else either.

Sanford & Sons Special!
A co-worker said he had an old boat for sale & agreed to bring it in to work with him when I told him that I was interested in it. The day it arrived at work, a freind of mine said to his better half as he was dropping her off... "look at that Sanford & Sons Special". He told me later what he said about my new baby when he found out that I bought it. The old girl has been called "Sanford" ever since.

Now ya'll know what to call her. Guess I should make that Miss Sanford.

Got most of the floatation in this weekend. Missed a few rivets with the Gluvit so I will have to get them before I finish.

The cover for the center of the steering wheel was missing so I made a new one. Will most likely have to paint it because I think the glare from the aluminum will blind the driver?

Re: 1959? 18' Lund runabout restore

Just noticed that the first picture in that last post shows a piece of black trim between the two interior colors (on the port side). Thinking about putting something there to break up the transition between the two colors. Any thoughts on that? Remember that there will be a nice black Merc on the back.

I like the idea of the black trim piece or even a white but with the Black Merc on the back, Black would be my preference i think. Very clean. I like what I'm seeing.

Little time to mess with the boat this weekend. Got the plywood for the floor cut & did a test fit. Had to put one of the old seats in so I could get the correct feel while I was making motor boat sounds.

Tried to keep below 1/2 throttle but did have to crack it a time or two. Motor boat sounds are kind of load in the shop at WOT!!

Will be sealing the decking. Just wanted to do a test fit first.
