    2001 Honda BF50 rev-limiter question

I was thinking just put a prop on there that's not possible to over rev, but after thinking about this for a second, I think the tach might be a better plan. Consider the price of a tach the cost of a lesson they should learn - AND - the only way to provide assurance the right prop is installed...

Pontoon scissor trailer - locking pin doesn't align when top rack cranked up

I'm curious what it would look like when loaded. If it looks the same, second the vote to have a look at the front arms and attach points.

Fix chipped paint or do a wrap?

That's fine if you are planning on piecing out your purchase. My thought is that has little to do with how to proceed if you plan on repairing it?

1958 Dura raft 15 foot transom removal

I think I'm pretty safe saying not a lot of us are familiar with a 1958 boat of any kind, let alone yours in particular. Maybe a few pics of you boat, with the area you are working on?

    No Fire on cylinder#1

Sorry, you say it will start on 2&3 if #1 is unplugged, can't help wondering what happens when #1 is left plugged in?

1999 Honda BF115 power tilt relay

Everyone to their own, but I prefer "creative" fixes only as a last resort. I can almost guarantee that used relay could be in your hands before you have the "quick fix" figured out. I could figure it out given the time, but for 80 bucks? Not worth it in my book. Have you had time to check out...

1999 Honda BF115 power tilt relay

Never seen one that bad. Have you tried sourcing a used one? Wiring up a pair of relays would work (eventually) but swapping in a used one would be a LOT simpler than going through all that. The ebay search I did: honda power tilt relay #38550-zw5-003 From the results of that search, an ebay...

    Tachometer

See if that loom plugs into or is spliced to another closer to the motor. Sometimes boat manf's extend the engine harness to the dash, combining it with their own in house harness.

    Quit My Job . . .

The place I live is very near a boat landing on a pretty good sized (busy) lake, maybe 100yds down a trail through some woods. I would be willing to bet the absolute BEST shows occur as a thunderstorm approaches on a holiday weekend, late afternoon. They've been drinking all day, YOU've been...

Looking for help. Suntracker party barge 21

I wouldn't be too worried about extra switches, not until I found something not working. Agree one of them will be for your navigation lights (middle position is off). Another might be for an interior light. Extra one - who knows? That would depend on installed accessories - if any.

best way to tow with a lund baron I/O?

Taken one step further, you can make retrieving the tow rope easier (leaning over the back of some boats can be interesting) by attaching an new extra light line (1/4"?) to said float, that leads into the boat. This lets you pull the float into the boat where you can then pull in the tow rope...

changing from 2.07 to 2.38 gear ratio on a new motor

The latest generation of pontoons have larger pontoon diameters able to carry more weight, and the "cabin" area moved forward slightly to help offset the bigger motors being used lately. Point being you have a legitimate point - when talking 'toons built within, say, the last 5 years or so.

Honda BF 15 no tell tale

Sure, I've done that. You just need to be careful feeding the water into the thermostat housing so water isn't going everywhere, making it difficult yo see if it's coming our where expected.

Honda BF 15 no tell tale

I have no experience on the 15's, but the bigger motors can often be rigged where you clamp a water hose to the pipe that normally plugs into the water pump. With the thermostat cover and thermostat removed, and the water turned on, water should come shooting out the thermostat housing. At that...

changing from 2.07 to 2.38 gear ratio on a new motor

QBhoy, we're talking a 21' pontoon boat here. The "right prop" is not going to have ANY effect on the ride height of the back of the pontoon boat which is weighted down with way too heavy a motor.... Same story with the gear ratio. EITHER ratio won't change a thing. NOT TALKING RUNABOUT HERE!

changing from 2.07 to 2.38 gear ratio on a new motor

We'll need to agree to disagree regarding "very light". 160kg = 353lbs. Does that number include the power trim? An 85 Johnson is a hundred lbs lighter, and much more likely the weight the folks doing the 90 hp rating had in mind 50-60 hp 4 strokes are about 250 with t&t. My experience...
