1958 Dura raft 15 foot transom removal

Has anyone ever replaced a transom on one of these boats? I have the knees and all the bolts removed and the transom well drains removed. The transom will not drop down enough to clear the turn in the bildge to clear the well. How do I get it out? Surgically remove it?

I think I'm pretty safe saying not a lot of us are familiar with a 1958 boat of any kind, let alone yours in particular. Maybe a few pics of you boat, with the area you are working on?
