    Hydraulic steering

I would add only that a well known brand, with good parts support, may have components available on the used market. Those that are mechanically inclined may be able to purchase something like that, rebuild it, and save up to half of what a new one might cost....

    Honda BF25 identification

My thought is they run them in big batches. Then they sell when they sell - from the manf's warehouse to the dealers, and from the dealers to the end users.

Honda BF25A leaking oil when hot.

The first one is a tuffy, they're far easier to work on as you get to know them. I found those bolts just like you did - after clobbering the oil pan with a rubber mallet for 10 minutes... One tip I can share when pulling the power head is I don't disconnect any of the wires. They're all...

Honda BF25A leaking oil when hot.

Bobby if this motor is anything like it's bigger brother 35-50 hp (that I know like the back of my hand), there's a bolt holding the oil pan that's very difficult to see, located between the exhaust port and the oil pan. In any case, you can pull up a parts diagram and verify where nearly every...

    Advice for first-time inboard owner?

It's going to take a while, but you get pretty good with an inboard when it comes to low speed maneuvering. Using the prop "walk" in reverse, combined with a short bump of forward gear blowing water over a rudder turned in the proper direction can be pretty effective. The "bumping" in and out...

    2015 yamaha 75hp too a 115hp

Thinking I was going crazy (again), I looked for myself, and I see that Yamaha is saying the 4 stroke 75/90/115 weight/bore/stroke/displacement ARE the same on this web site. Scroll down to "Specs and Compare" https://yamahaoutboards.com/en-us/home/outboards/115-50-hp/f115#specs-compare This...

    Honda BF25 identification

The stickers show that the 98 motor conforms to the later regulations - Honda is doing a bit of bragging on that fact. That's it! Assuming the regulations/stickers have anything to do with the motor manf date is a REALLY common mistake... wishful thinking in many cases.... I do a LOT of work on...

    2015 yamaha 75hp too a 115hp

Could it be that older models used the same displacement for the 75/90/115's?

    2015 yamaha 75hp too a 115hp

Would you like to be a little more specific? Engines are the same weight, share bore and stoke dims (I think?), so I thought the blocks might be interchangeable? No?

    2015 yamaha 75hp too a 115hp

Not from a practical standpoint. The ONLY possibility, and I'm not REAL sure if it would even work, would be to find a 115 power head (complete w/intake and carbs/fuel injection) and swap it with your 75.

    Will vehicle work?

I was a little skeptical until you mentioned how far you're moving it. That in mind, I say go for it, unless you have some sort of redicoulously steep ramp to deal with..... Been doing something similar, pulling from our yard 1/4 mile to the ramp for the last 40 years or so. If the tires are...

    2003 BF50 high idle

I would do the disconnect the throttle cable thing Matt describes first, then see if the linkage is free to work as it should. Dash pot, if it's been off/loosened could be holding it open. Vacuum leaks about anywhere could be an issue too. Maybe spray some carb cleaner around to check vacuum...

What would happen if an engine died on plane?

An outboard or I/O has sort of a ratchet arrangement in the lower unit. If power were to suddenly stop, the ratchet would allow the prop to keep spinning, allowing the boat to come to a graceful stop. On a straight inboard, there is no ratchet built into the drive line. Here a sudden loss of...

1995 Honda outboard BF50A carb problems

If it's running Ok why mess with it? If it's NOT running OK, what's ailing it, specifically? To answer your question, I've done a bunch of these, and generally end up at 2.5 or so. I can share that there is no upside trying to get as lean a setting as possible. All you're doing is making it...

    Boat plate 10 o

Agree, bigger motor a bad plan. You should really have a look at the weight of the current motor and anything you might be considering. 50 lbs might not seem like a big deal - until you see what it does to the back of the boat, with it being much lower in the back. This can get to the point the...

    Stalls running at idle speed

This was AFTER you pulled the center tube and confirmed it was clear by the fact you could see through the bore? Not talking about the tiny holes in each side. I'm talking about the jet located INSIDE that tube. If this step is skipped you've fixed nothing.... Next most important is the tiny...
