    Rub Rail Aluminum Replacement?

A further hint: set the new rub rail in the sun to allow it to warm up a bit, making it more flexible, easier to insert.

Racing Tunnel hull - need advice on long shaft vs short shaft motor

In that pic, not the prop shaft appears to line up on the bottom of the hull (runners) My vote, looking at that pic, would be long shaft....

    Pontoon vibes in Harris 24'

I can't relate to full scale helis, but the RC heli's can be pretty sensitive as well. You may be able to kill some of the vibration noise a little here and there. The alum. skin for example, where it's riding in a channel big enough to allow it to rattle, can be pretty easily silenced to...

    Pontoon vibes in Harris 24'

I worked at a dealer selling new Harris boats in the late 80's, and I can tell you there was a very noticeable difference in the vibration between the OMC and Merc I/O's from the time they were new. The OMC was a lot smoother and quieter. Point being your complaint is no surprise here. I would...

re-wiring 1988 bass buggy pontoon, would like some help

I can add 1 hint. Unless you are talking about the light, there is no power necessary for the speedo. It runs on water pressure fed from the pick up on the back of the boat.

    1980 crest/maurell 25'

I would think removing that wedge would raise the engine?

    1980 crest/maurell 25'

Sure, that's great. From that pic, it LOOKS like height should be OK, but it's certainly not too low.

    1980 crest/maurell 25'

You need to take that shot again about 6' - 8' further away. It's difficult to get any perspective in this one. Would be nice to get a shot showing where the engine cavitation plate height is in relation to the pontoons. From what I see here, it's pretty high, but it's tough to see for sure...

    1980 crest/maurell 25'

Understood. The question remains, is that low enough? This being a 1980 boat, it appears there's a good chance that engine pod has been changed. My experience, which dates back to the era this boat was new, was that VERY few late 70's, early1980's boats had enough engine pod to carry 85hp...

Second the caution regarding a 24' pontoon powered by a 9.9 in the wind. A 25hp would be my lower limit....

    1980 crest/maurell 25'

The well filling with water is normal. That wedge doesn't appear to be, but I'm not going to condemn it without seeing a little more of the whole setup, including an angle that allows us to see the position of the cavitation plate in relation to the bottom of the engine pod and pontoons.

Centering boat on trailer (solo) without trailer guides? or DIY guide advice

The cable angle shown in the pic is probably fine. I was thinking if the winch were located a little higher, it might help to lift the hull while it's pulling, making it easier to pull. Doesn't look like you have that option though. That said, I'd scrap those v-blocks in favor of small...

Centering boat on trailer (solo) without trailer guides? or DIY guide advice

Winch proximity to bow eye? If it's not above, I could see where it might be pretty difficult to pull it on to the trailer.

Centering boat on trailer (solo) without trailer guides? or DIY guide advice

Knowing full well if you get the trailer depth just right for the boat you increase your chances, I would still go with the guides. Steepness/angle of the ramp much less a factor when single handing... Brain dead operation is good thing....

E-TEC factory making BRP jet "pontoons"

Jets, and their propensity to find a clump of weeds in the middle of an otherwise clean lake, and the difficulty of removing those when the pump sucks them into the intake, turned me sour on them a long time ago. Have they figured out how to prevent that? What about sand and gravel that's been...
