How do you guys mix Gas

OK, so let's keep it relevant. Apples vs. apples. Show me a 2s 20hp that'll push a 20' pontoon into the mid to high teens typical of a 40-50 4 stroke......(brand not relevant) Hint, there isn't one...... Clearly you have no experience here, and you're up for a nice surprise when you "discover"...

How do you guys mix Gas

    These days I wouldn't own a 2 stroke!

    More power

Best case though, with everything working and set correctly, you should be seeing something in the mid teens when lightly loaded....

2 stroke vs 4 stroke prop differences

Regardless, it's pretty clear here you're going to need a little more prop. I think your red line is about 6k, but I would look for something turning about 5500. At 6k, the 4 stroke is going to sound pretty busy. 5500 sounds much better and generally does that with little loss of performance.

How do you guys mix Gas

Here's a vote for mixing it up 5-6 gallons at a time, before putting it in the boat.

I don't know anything about boat but I want one

I'd do a few charters, maybe quite a few, to get a lay of the land prior to buying something that just might scare the beejesus out of you.

    interesed in a BF90

You could dry it best possible (I would use compressed air) then wipe it down with an oil soaked rag. Turn it over slowly to try and coat the rings, then oil it down again. Stored indoors out of the weather, that might buy you a couple of months. If this motor is cheap enough, you might try...

    Ns90a idiot mistake

I think it's pretty safe to say there's some diagnostics that need to be done before even a wild guess can be made regarding what it's going to take to fix it.

    interesed in a BF90

A few thoughts. First, the Honda 90 is a pretty sturdy motor - making me wonder about the "local mechanic's" qualifications. My experience has been MAYBE 1 in 5 have a clue....have even had one of these pulled down? Thinking it's MUCH easier to condemn a motor and sell a new one for those with...

    Speed after adding 3rd log

My guess for the reasons the newer 'toons use more engine setback are 2. First, today's boat are very often running MUCH heavier motors for the size of the boat being discussed. Second, the swim areas/decks that USED to be forward of the railed area, are now in back of that railed area at the...

Dometic RV fridge RH460LD any good?

You need to compare apples with apples! Both of these manf's offer both compressor type friges AND absorption types. The compressor types are elec. only, while the absorption are the combo type that run on gas or elec. Both have their downsides. The compressors are rarely totally silent for...

    Starcraft 3.0 to diesel conversion

Part of my consideration for the likes of a diesel conversion, would HAVE to include thoughts of a 4 stroke outboard conversion. SUPER popular among the pontoon crowd, the only way to appreciate the 4 stroke plan is to experience it.......

    4 Blade?

YUP!!! Same story with a deck boat, especially the ability to stay on plane at lower speeds. And I think pontoons work well with them too. There, the extra thrust available at low/maneuvering speeds IS noticeable.

    Leaking toons

In my world, that may be a bit optimistic. You may be able to find a midwest 600. "project" but it's going to be one sorry looking SOB built in the 70's with tiny pontoon diameters. And my last decking project, done right with good vinyl covering and stainless fasteners, was closer to 1000...

Safest way to pay for items from private, out of state sellers ?

I would bet not. Regarding purchases over just a few hundred dollars, I pay in person, after it passes MY smell test.... More pictures/details from the seller is a fair request from a serious buyer...
