My 2003 BF50 idles at 1400 rpm.
The bottom idle screw is not even touching the adjusting arm so can't be turned out any more. Hoping it's a common issue or something I overlooked. I'm running it in a barrel if that makes a difference.
Thanks!

What happened just before this problem started? i.e. did someone remove and clean the carburetors, or did someone try to synchronize the carburetors, etc? Does it sound like it's only running on 1 or 2 cylinders? Without more information, my first guess would be the carburetors are horribly out of sync and even though the main idle screw is out, the individual carburetor screws are turned in way too far. Actually maybe first check if anything is holding the throttle open. The idle screw isn't touching, but is something else holding the throttle slightly open? Cable too tight, something else getting in the way, ..?

I would do the disconnect the throttle cable thing Matt describes first, then see if the linkage is free to work as it should. Dash pot, if it's been off/loosened could be holding it open.

Vacuum leaks about anywhere could be an issue too. Maybe spray some carb cleaner around to check vacuum hoses, carb to manifold area, and manifold to head.

Planning on a carb sync likely a good plan as well....
