Ram 5.7L hemi engine tick, misfire cyl 3

She is paying $99 a month for Car Shield and did not get the contract through the dealer. She only started Car Shield a couple of months ago and now this happened. I can see them rejecting the claim for some insignificant reason.

Yeah, it's actually ashame because otherwise it's a really nice truck. It's a 2015 and the body is almost without any blemishes. She needs a truck because she hauls hay and feed and doesn't want to pull a trailer with something like an SUV. The prices of used trucks are now what new ones...

Ram 5.7L hemi engine tick, misfire cyl 3

Thanks for your input. She did not buy it new. I think it was a lease return. It was purchased at our local dealership where we have purchased many vehicles, mostly new but a couple of used ones. We have what I believe is a pretty good relationship with them. We usually get pretty good deals...

Ram 5.7L hemi engine tick, misfire cyl 3

That link was interesting. The fact that Chrysler knows about this is frustrating at the least. There's no consumer cause for this. It's the luck of the draw. She just happened to be one of the unlucky ones. This engine was well taken care of. All the oil changes were done at the proper...

Ram 5.7L hemi engine tick, misfire cyl 3

The independent shop's rate is definitely way lower than the dealership. Their rate is $85 per hour, which is very reasonable. The dealer is well over $100.

Ram 5.7L hemi engine tick, misfire cyl 3

Thanks for the response. The mechanic or technician as they're called these days, pulled a lifter that had a seized roller and spied down at the cam with his bore scope. This is what he said. I was not a witness. He said it would cost about the same to repair it compared to a used engine swap...

    Water in my bilge

Yep, could very well be that. Same reason I mentioned transducer or trim tab mounting screws or maybe garboard drain plug housing. It's not seeping in while under way due to the negative pressure of the moving boat. I recall being told years ago when we had a small row boat with a kicker...

95 Mercruiser 4.3 water in oil

Very interesting. Thank you for the explanation! Thanks again! I really appreciate the explanation and the history of it all. I now know that my (2003) 4.3L has that balance shaft and why.

95 Mercruiser 4.3 water in oil

Thanks! I'm assuming it spins. Doesn't look like it does with that bent tubing turning down toward the left of the picture. Does the whole thing spin or just the paddle looking piece? I'm guessing it's driven by the water pump? Can you explain exactly why it is needed? Is it exclusive to...

95 Mercruiser 4.3 water in oil

Pardon my ignorance. In the first picture, what is that shaft looking thing with the cylindrical part on the left and flat plate part on the right? Some kind of water passage?

    What could possibly go wrong!!

Years ago in the mid 70's I had a nut job step father that drove a mid 60's something Plymouth station wagon. He built a huge wooden "corral" (as we kids called it) that covered the complete roof from windshield to the back end. It wasn't solid wood or plywood, it was all 2x4's. It was...

    Adding 2nd battery?

I don't know about your setup, but my batteries sit on a "deck" in my engine bay with the actual hull far below. The "deck" is horizontal plywood and the V shaped hull is well below it. The suggestion by @alldodge Is a good one. Pull an existing screw to see it's length and copy that. Just...

    Trim/tilt rams: delete?

Are you sure the trim pump is bad? It could be the up/down relays. Mine has two relays (solenoids). One for up and one for down. Those things can easily fail especially if the boat has been sitting for a while. The contacts get corroded and nothing happens when you push the button. They are...

1988 4.3 ltr engine starter wiring

Yeah, I don't get that either, especially since pictures are instant and you can take a bunch of them, unlike when we had to wait for the film to get developed.

    Water in my bilge

Did you have this problem before the bellows were replaced? I would get that checked. Could be something didn't seal properly when they did the bellows job.

    Water in my bilge

How is the condition of your garboard drain plug? Maybe water can't get in through it while the boat is moving due to the suction of the wake, but standing still without any pressure it leaks. Do you have any underwater intakes for maybe a bait well or something like that? The same thing could...

Ram 5.7L hemi engine tick, misfire cyl 3

Thanks for the reply. She has that aftermarket warranty "Car Shield " that has tons of TV commercials promoted by some big celebrities. Her mechanic said they are terrible and do everything they can to not pay. Of course they will, no one wants to pay out a $5,000 bill. She has all the oil...

Ram 5.7L hemi engine tick, misfire cyl 3

2015 Ram 1500 5.7L hemi. 105,000 miles. Someone I know has what seems to be an almost common problem with her engine. Check engine light codes point to misfire on cylinder 3. A friend did the following for her: Swapped coil packs, but no change. Changed all 16 spark plugs, no change...

    Towing and Cockpit cover concerns?

When I go short distances with speeds lower than 45 mph, my snap-on bow and cockpit OEM covers are fine, but at highway speeds some snaps will come loose. That is why I also have an aftermarket cover that straps on and has the rear vents as @JimS123 describes. I keep the factory snap-on covers...
