I was looking through some pictures today and stumbled onto this one. While this person was towing a camper, I've seen equally insane "overloads" involving boats. I posted this picture 8 years ago but thought it would be a good reminder as to how not to treat others on the road with wreckless practices. The highway patrol apparently pulled this rig off the road as the extension cord ran from the vehicle up to the rest area building so he/she had been there awhile. Missing wheel, not enough tow vehicle, and questionable condition of everything.

Its best to steer clear of the idiots. But Im sure they will never learn until someone gets seriously hurt.

Even then they wont learn unless they are the ones that get seriously hurt, unfortunately that rarely happens !

Years ago in the mid 70's I had a nut job step father that drove a mid 60's something Plymouth station wagon. He built a huge wooden "corral" (as we kids called it) that covered the complete roof from windshield to the back end.

It wasn't solid wood or plywood, it was all 2x4's. It was probably a good two feet or more high. He built it to fit cardboard boxes that they shipped pears in, so the boxes were pretty strong. It was like a puzzle loading it up. I don't recall how many boxes fit up there, but it was a lot, maybe 20-25, but could have been more.

It was a sight to see. I wish I had pictures!

We used to carry all our camping gear up there and we had just about every camping gadget they made.

I remember the looks we would get from toll collectors.

This thing was insane and I'm sure it would not have been allowed this day and age.
