Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

The boat ran great all last summer. We took it to the river almost every weekend. We made a couple trips up to Bald Eagle, which is a nice little lake just south of State College. Our last trip we went to Raystown Lake October 27th, so we extended boat season to it fullest. Once I put the...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

It’s the end of another boating season, but this year was great. We spent many weekends on the boat and made lots of new memories. I took some really cool sunset pictures. Enjoy!! New gauges and possibly some new vinyl this winter, stay tuned!!

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

I really HATE putting holes in my boat. In this case I wanted to add a horn. My Chaparral has a horn, it was just screwed under the dash. Honestly it scared me when I pressed the button since it was pointed at me. I guess it must have satisfied some USCG rule, but really wasn’t effective. Well...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

Now that the covers are made and snapped in, it is such a pain in the butt to lower the drive. I have to lower the drive once I get it into my garage so that the whole trailer fits. I decided to add a momentary toggle switch in the aft end of the boat to remotely lift and lower the drive...

76 Hammond El Dorado V1950 Restoration

I use an image Resizer app. I usually upload directly from my phone after I resize the image and save it. It takes an extra few seconds per image. Maybe you’re being a bit tongue in cheek, but stay away from photo bucket. Chances are they’ll break your links, unless you pay up.

84 Sea Ray Seville Cuddy - Floor work, new interior

No latches, just hinges attached to the backer of the pads. The plywood backer is heavy enough to keep the lid down. All three of my pads open individually. My buddies Rinker has one solid pad across the entire width. His is attached with a piano hinge and closer arms similar to a hatchback. I...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

The rest of the snaps were installed a few at a time, then checking fit. The next picture is how I used binding tape to finish the edges of cutouts for my stern light and Bimini top. I store my Bimini top low enough that I can back my boat into my garage without taking it off. You can can...

    89 BL Capri resto help

Just like archbuilder stated, make a radius at the top of the stringer. I tabbed my stringers in stopping about an inch from the top on the last layer of 1708. I did two layers of 1708. Like Arch said, when capping the stringer, wet the top first, then gently work the glass over. I used plastic...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

I used a plastic grip clamp and a bunji cord to help pull the center of the fabric toward the back of the boat. This helped keep the fabric centered and tight. I joined the next section of fabric and fabricated it much the same as described previously. The picture below is a good illustration of...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

Once I get all the clamps on and edge plus snap locations marked, I pulled the cover off and laid it on my “man cave” floor. I begin to trim the excess fabric ensuring I have a 1-1/4” fold. The arc in the windshield meant that I had to slit the fabric in several places to form relief for the...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

Well after staring at the aft area of my boat where a cover should be, I came up with a plan. I figure it would be easier for me to build the cover width wise, than to attempt a much longer length wise installation. I chose this mainly because of the table it would take to properly lay out a...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

Now my poor sewing machine could get through two layers of Sunbrella with basting tape in between, any more than that and I had to manually turn the wheel. That wasn’t a problem, but took time and made my wrist sore. My biggest obstacle to overcome was fighting the urge to over manipulate the...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

Fast forward to the winter......what man gets excited when his wife buys him a sewing machine for Christmas? This guy..... I always wanted the factory mooring covers, but would never pay to have them custom made. With the snap studs already installed.....how hard could it be??? So, I ordered...

    Engine coupler

Can anyone tell me the difference between an 18643A5 coupler, and the 18643A8 coupler? Serial number for the 350 magnum is D808410 which leads me to the A8. Many sites show this as discontinued. The A5 seems to cover the year this engine was built. Is the A5 just an updated design or material?

    Mobile device issues

I wanted to start a list of issues that I’m noticing when accessing iBoats forum or the online store via a mobile device. I use an iphone7 with the latest iOS. One of the issues I fight with is resizing of certain posts. The edges of the post are larger than the screen. Resizing by pinching...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

I'm completely done restoring the broken Photo Bucket links.....man I wish I would have never started the third party hosting thing. Oh well, history now, literally. Since its really too cold to work in the garage, I had to find yet another hobby to occupy my time. Just made my third batch...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

Made it to post 451 updating photos......I really hate kittens now, lol. Fixing these broken links is a PITA, but it seems to go much better now with this latest update to the forum. I have a list of winter work I need to do to the old Chap, aside from just updating this post. I recently...

    Mercruiser power trim hoses

1990 Mercruiser 4.3LX, Alpha 1, Generation 1. I just discovered an oil leak that I think is coming from the hydraulic lines that pass through the transom plate. I think the leak is right where the hose is crimped to the stainless steel tube at the transom plate. This is a little discouraging...

    1978 Johnson 85hp price

Hi everyone. I just want to get an idea of what I should ask when selling my 1978 85 hp manual tilt outboard. It runs great. 125 to 130 psi in every cylinder. New starter this year. Everything else that was replaced only has two seasons of run time. Carbs and fuel pump rebuilt, new fuel lines...

Chaparral 2000 SL Sport floor, and more?? [SPLASHED Sept 2017]

Bench installed with stainless hardware. Installed the fuel filter/separator. The Mercruiser sure looks nice against all that white. Final coat of gelcoat with surfacing wax on the deck. Funny how a few gnats wanted to be fossils. Oh well, this area is getting covered in carpet.
