I'm completely done restoring the broken Photo Bucket links.....man I wish I would have never started the third party hosting thing. Oh well, history now, literally.

Since its really too cold to work in the garage, I had to find yet another hobby to occupy my time.


Just made my third batch. This is an American pale ale.....but I digress.
Boating season will be right around the corner, and there are still things that need finished up on the Chap.....

Not yet, still working with the all inclusive kits. I’m going to try putting my own ingredients together next time

Nice weather today, got me thinking about my boat. I finally got the hydraulic hoses and decided to install them. It really wasn’t a big deal, much easier that I was thinking. I removed the lines by pulling the manifold away from the gimbal housing, loosening the flare fittings, and pulling the hoses through the transom.
I removed the other 4 hoses from the manifold, and removed the manifold from the gimbal housing. I painted a little liquid Teflon on the threads of the flare fittings to prevent galling, then installed the two hoses into the manifold. I installed a new gasket. I fed the hoses through the transom into the bilge and worked the manifold onto the bolt studs. After all the connections were made and mounting nuts tight I worked air out of the lines by raising and lowering the drive.
I’m hoping these hoses last longer than one season.

I installed the second battery and switch today. It’s nice being able to work in a heated garage in January. I decided to get a group 27 deep cycle for my second battery. This is in addition to the group 24 cranking battery already installed. The group 24 has never let us down, I just want to be sure that if I run the radio and lights, I always have my cranking battery on reserve.

Exactly what i want to do in the future. That way you can just sit and run the radio to your hearts content without a worry in the world.

More work today prior to the game. I installed the wiring for the amp and 12” subwoofer. I needed to run the amp remote wire and RCAs from the head unit to the amp. I used 2 10 gauge leads from both positive and negative, so that’s 4 power leads which will provide plenty of juice for the Kenwood amp.

Congrats on your Eagles rise to the top! I happen to root for the team on the left side of PA but it was great to see your Eagles beat up on the Pats (which is something my team seems to always struggle with). My wife is from Philly so we would love to see an all PA super bowl some day. BTW, the boat will be even more fun this summer with the new sound system.

The boat bug is definitely starting to hit again. It got into the 50’s today, but the sun felt much warmer. I installed a keel guard and bow guard. The river that I most frequent is rocky, so keel guard for me is a necessity.

I traded my motorcycle for an old toro zero turn. How do you know you’re getting old? You trade a fast bike for a lawn mower!! Lol.

Anyway, I spent most of the fall and winter on this zero turn. It’s quite a beast with a 25hp motor, drive shaft pto for the deck, and a blower for clippings. It sat for at least 10 years outside before I got it. She’s running like a champ now and ready for the mowing season.

Having this beast should allow allow for more time on the water!!

Installed a compass in the dash and wired its light. I’m not sure I’ll ever use it, but it was a gift from the Admiral, and every boat needs a compass.... right? Also got the carpet vacuumed and hung out at the helm making motor sounds. I’m sooooo ready for boating season.

It was a pretty nice day today so I decided to do a little work that was left over from last year. I had two bow cushions that I needed to replace the wood on. So far I’ve removed the vinyl, cut new plywood, and soaked with old timers water sealer. I’m debating on whether or not to just take all three cushions to the upholstery shop and get them done. I’m not sure they can last another year.

You are the great documentor Chuck. Good for you. Glad you are getting ready to take the boat out. I'm doing the same. Just got some new 6 X 9 speakers that I installed, sounds great. Got a new set of tires and wheels off a nice Avalon tri-toon that the owner replaced before he even put the new boat in his garage. I have a keel guard I want to get on this weekend, we will see if it is warm enough. I also ordered two Attwood 66517-7 pop up cleats to replace the bow cleats. I have torn several swim suits exiting and boarding the boat from the bow. They are kind of pricey but I think they will be worth it. I will let you know how that install goes, pretty hard to get to the back of those cleats but I think I can do it.
