Adding power tilt and trim to manual motor

The PTT unit for that motor had the trim pump in the boat with 4 hydraulic hoses that went to and powered the two trim cylinders that bolt on the outside of the transom bracket. See parts diagrams. https://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury/oem-parts/outboard/1985/-1035625?mdl=SEHBTW I can tell...

    Welding a pivoting Bow Stop?

If the winch line is tight, the bow stop should not move very much. If it does, it is likely the trailer flexing. Is the trailer rated for the boat weight?

1978 Lund Deep V Hull, bow raising up dangerously high

Gee, put the fuel tank in the bow. Consider moving the battery (if you have one) forward as well.

1978 Lund Deep V Hull, bow raising up dangerously high

Trim the motor down as much as you can. That will help it plane faster with less bow rise. Try to determine if the wind affects the lift of the bow. I had a jon that the wind would lift and carry the bow.

    Distributor harness 1976 mercury 115

You do not need to remove the flywheel to get the distributor off. You may need to remove the outer flywheel to get a to the bolts, I cannot quite remember. I think it unbolts from the bottom. On that distributor, the rotor is non-removeable and fragile and $200+ to replace, so easy does it.

Rust, generally how to clean and best spray to keep it from rusting?

The easy way to fix rust is to wire brush off the loose stuff and prime with Rusty Metal Primer. The better way is to wire brush and then sand off the rust. Prime and topcoat. As for the winch....if not too far gone, do as above.....otherwise replace it.

1984 mercury 150 blackmax timing/ link and sync procedure

You probably want a 19" or 17" pitch prop for that boat. In theory, a 19" pitch prop would get you about 5300+ RPM. 17P would get 5700 RPM or maybe some more. Idle pickup timing is set when the carbs are closed, but about to open. 8* ATDC at that point is fine.

1984 mercury 150 blackmax timing/ link and sync procedure

A 23P prop would only work on a light fast hull. Must boats have too much drag to allow full RPM. Is the motor, boat or prop new to you? What is it that you have? The prop hub is the right size for the motor, usually 4-3/8"? Have you checked the fuel pump. A black prop is unusual. Maybe...

1994 15 force by merc overheat?

Replace the thermostat and recheck. FWIW, I thought your waterpump did not look good.

1994 15 force by merc overheat?

OK, on a standard motor, the waterpump would be next to replace. On a related note, do you have a poppit valve on that motor?

Looking for the right tach harness from controls to tach?

I think you want the harness that goes with the controls. How about harness A-84-86396A4?

1994 15 force by merc overheat?

Check the thermostat? A lot of motor's telltales bypass the thermostat. They stay cool...

    Powerhead removal

You could hang it upside down, by the gearcase. That would put pressure on both pieces that you want to remove, plus, gravity will cause the penetrating oil to run into the driveshaft/powerhead joint.

    Powerhead removal

Stick a can of penetrating oil, with a long tube in that slot and give the driveshaft a blast. I do not think it will do anything, but you never know. Wood wedges can help as well.

    Powerhead removal

There might be a nut or two under the carbs. However, It makes a whole lot of sense to pull the gearcase. There should be 5 nuts, a bolt or screw that holds the zinc anode plus one more bolt under the anode. you can install the gearcase really easy, later, if you pull it now.

Piston rings for a game fisher 3.0

Gee, wouldn't it depend on who made the engine for Sears? Some were Mccullough, some were Eska, some were other brands. You also might check the Sears Parts web site as they have some surprising stuff still avail.

Shift link nut is #10 in his diagram. If you don't remove it, you will pull the shift rod out of the midsection. The others you will need to look for.

Trims down, not up, not solenoid?

On one pivot point, where the outdrive pivots for trim, is the trim gauge sender, the other is the trim limit switch. These are open to the water and often fail.

Yes, but we already know how to do a deepwater slalom start, and we didn't have a wet suit.
