Should I redo the pink RV antifreeze that I already used last week to winterize Merc 5.0?

Look on the port side of the engine. The raw water hose will run from the thermostat housing to the P/S cooler and then to the outdrive. You can also trace the P/S hoses to the cooler.

Should I redo the pink RV antifreeze that I already used last week to winterize Merc 5.0?

Dump some antifreeze into the raw water hose that runs to the P/S cooler. You should see it run out the water intakes on the outdrive, after it chases the water out.

    Blower hook up and location?.....

Cyclops, That is the wrong procedure, although it seems to make sense. The USCG approved procedure is to turn everything off including the blower and close all hatches. Closing the hatches helps keep gas vapors out of the boat. Now gas up the boat. When the fueling is done, turn on the...

need help finding part Its the drain thru my transom from the engine splash area to the outside.

West marine carries them, as I would think a lot of other places have them.

Is switching to Aftermarket reeds worth it?

Some of those earlier V6 motors had fixed idle jets. The carbs must be spotless and the floats exactly set right to work properly.

Installing A Power Trim Tilt Unit On A Mercury Outboard

What year and HP motor are you working on? Different motors had different PTT units. There were also some aftermarket universal ones.

    Barefoot skiers?

My speedboat was plenty fast for barefooting. My friend removed the toe piece from a slalom ski and wore his flat bottom sneakers. He would yell "hit it" and jam the ski onto his feet and do a deep water slalom start. After a short time he put his left foot down and just let the ski fall off...

    Stuck Transom Wood

I replaced the transom in my speedboat from the outside, as I did not want to separate the cap. The cap on that boat is real small and not real strong. Removing it would have meant some sort of lifting cradle and more hands to pull it off. I did keep some of the transom near the gunwales to...

Gee, have you looked at Amazon? They have a bunch of tachs that would work. Sierra $78US Faria System Check $150US Faris Chesapeake $90US Some universal ones for <$50US Some I have never heard of like Geeloo, Artilaura, Samdo

    1967 Evinrude Sport 4 60 hp, 60753 A, Configuration Question

Racer, Does that motor have an intake manifold liquid fuel drain like the Fat-Fifties, or did they have some sort of recirculation system?

    Tach for 2-Stroke 3-Cylinder Outboard

I would think teleflex would have one, as will any other tach OEMs. If you wanted a System Check tach, the choice will be narrower. Generally, tachs run off the stator pulses, and the stators have the same number of pulses, regardless of number of cylinders.

75HP No key start, no guages, no trim

That fuse should only power ignition, gauges and the trim relays, not the PTT motor itself, I would think. It makes sense to trace the PTT relay wires from engine harness connector to the relays themselves. Look for any that rub on the block or cowling.

    Switch Box Suggestions

Generally, ADI ignition timing on those IL6 motors was: Idle pickup timing 0-9* ATDC Max spark advance 21* BTDC. On carbs, replace all gaskets and inlet needle and seat after cleaning. Check the floats for cracks, or just replace 'em. Initial carb idle mixture setting was 1-1/2 turns open...

75HP No key start, no guages, no trim

Most Mercs have a fuse that controls power to the ign key. The ign key powers the starter solenoid, but not the ign. You might look for a blown fuse and the most important reason which is a bare wire rubbing ground or another kind of short circuit. If no short, the fuse would not blow.

FD-11 best way to fix shift connector cover threads that are stripped?

Gee, how often do you take that cover off? Melted zip tie works for a few years, and it is so much easier than drilling and retapping.

    Prop help-1993 Mariner 30ELO on a 16' toon

A faulty check valve in the primer bulb would tend to not fill the carbs with fuel, rather than flood the engine. Most 2 cycle motors are pretty resistant to flooding. You will want to replace the primer bulb, however. To start that motor, pump the primer 'till hard. Lift cold start lever...
