Re: What do you pull your boat with?

you will have to scroll over to see the whole pic, i dont know why it did that. I think a while back i posted tellin yall, but never post pics, i pull my 1974 Starcraft with a 2003 Chevy Venture - NEVER had any problems at all, and we have a pretty steep boat ramp and its even got gravel on it from time to time due to the flat land being gravel at the top of the ramp, and i also pull the 74 starcraft with a 1974 Dodge RV. in the picture of the boat with the van that was when i JUST picked it up, paid $50 bucks for her.. no engine and needed floor, but got her a floor and i just use a trolling motor for now, all i need for my needs of fishing.

I tow my 18 foot Sea Ray Seville with a Mercury Mountaineer V8 AWD. It does great. I also have a Ford f150 v6 with a 5 speed that doesn't do so well.

I pull my 2009 Legend 18 Xtreme with a 2007 Volvo XC70. I have towed to Ontario from Nova Scotia twice, a 1800 mile return trip twice with no problems. I think the next improvement will be installing Hyd brakes on the trailer, if I can find the right kit.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

Just picked her up (used that is!) the other month. Finally bit the bullet and bought the tow harness kit (has like 9 6-12 pin plugs on it?!) and the receiver, 2 hour install and I was good to go. The hitch point is lower than my land rover Discovery II so I'll probably have to flip the ball over when I actually take it out.

2006 Range Rover Sport HSE Lux. Both this and my old rover have the auto-leveling air suspension and 7,700lb ratings - my old one ('99, 168,000mi) really surprised me and was a total trooper pulling that boat 1000+ miles this summer. They really will do whatever you throw at them (yeah yeah, when they aren't in the shop).

They meet at last. Now if only it was spring.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I towed my 17' Champion bass boat for one season with an '02 Ford Explorer, 4.0-liter V6. It did OK, but always seemed to be struggling.

So I traded it for an '03 Chevy Tahoe Z-71. Not only does it pull the boat with no real effort, but it pulls stumps, hauls deer out of the forest, climbs to high mountain trout lakes, pushes snow.....

well i used have a 99 durango. towed my 22' deck boat no problems. Then bought a 2000 4-runner sr5, v-6 4 wheel drive. It pulled the deck boat better then the dodge:D...sorry mopar fans Now i tow a 18' starcraft hoilday, the ramp i use to get on the ohio river is steep, never any issues of getting the boat in or out with the toyota. Hell i bent the trailer, for my jon boat with my rodeo one day:facepalm: that was a learning experience

I use to have a 2005 Ford F150 with the 5.4L 4x4 Lariat but after killing the tranny along with a lot of other issues I went to the dark side....

Now I tow the same boat with a 2010 Silverado 1500HD LTZ 4x4 with the 6.2L and the NTH (Max Trailering package)

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

Wher do you put your boat or do you trailer all the time.( What pool)
Hopefully this coming season, I will be docked in Freeport, But I do live in town, so its not too bad hitting the public ramp, if no dock space is available this year. (I'm #4 on the sign up list) This is my first boat, but I have quite a few friends that have boats too. Some of them didnt have a truck, sooo... But I plan on frequenting the (lock 5 ) A.K.A. Shenley, Freeport,(lock 6) Clinton, and(lock 4) Tarentum pools. All this, as long as the locks stay open. Still havent heard definitive info from the Army Core. I am also planning on hitting Loyalhanna lake, and the allegheny reservoir. You?

I have a 1992 Correct Craft Ski Nautique, 19'6" . Tow it with a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 Crew Cab 4x4, Cummins turbo diesel. Doesn't even know it is back there..... Exhaust brake works wonders too for slowdowns and traffic situations.
