Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I tow my 1989 bayliner trophy 2159 with a 2003 ford expedition with 5.4L. One day I will try to tow it with my 1994 ranger 4.0L 4x4 just to see how it does, but I only have trailer brakes on one axle right now. You can see the ranger and half the boat in the pic, but not the expedition.

I pull all kinds of boats with my 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 four door, auto tranny, 4WD. I love that truck. I tow everything from my little 14' jon boat to my neighbors astro 1800 bass boat. I love boats!

I pull my 1980 tri hull seaswirl with my 1991 chevy blazer. I don't pull it in overdrive and I always leave early to make sure I give myself plenty of time but I have never had a problem. Just need to have an extra cup of coffee and enjoy the drive. Don't get in a hurry.

I will be pulling my Starcraft Islander 221 with my 2010 Ford F350 V10 4x4.
Pulling the 16ft boat wasn't any challenge for the truck....

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

2005 Chevy silverado (silver color) extended cab 4wd towing package with class 4, 2inch hitch. 19' 11" Tri-haul open bow run-about 1975. Trailer is 1964, 11 years apart on them.

Unusual things I have used to move the trailer, Hand power, gravity, ridding lawn mower, self propelled push mower (Do not attempt, I broke it), floor jack used as a wider base rolling tongue jack (the grip plate was easy to remove, in goes a 2inch ball and connect everything up), bicycle (this connection was weird and barley worked), truck in 4wd (couldn't go up a hill in my yard in 2wd at all), just about anything I can hook up the safety chains to.........................

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I have a 2008 colorado 4 cyl and want to pull a 16 foot bass tracker that weights around 500/1000. I want to know if i should even attempt this with the vehicle? My father has a 2000 nissan frontier with a V6 and pulled just fine.

You should have made a new thread, but here is your answer I am quoting off http://coloradofans.com "I went and looked in my manual and I didn't realize all the different towing capacities listed based on engine, trans, cab size, gear ratio.

I dont know which trans or gear ratio you have, but that narrows your towing capacity from 2000lbs to 3500lbs."

Bumper pull? Hitch? Tongue weight?
I would say you would be fine to do it, but if you don't have a hitch, you might want to think about getting one. I have seen small compact cars pull a bigger load then that. Though it didn't look safe......

320037_2209564959567_1260752462_32272083_897584204_n.jpgTo everyone, please keep in mind although your car or truck can pull such a large load. If you are exceeding manufacturer maximum tow capacity you are putting your life and more so other life's in danger, Be Safe! By the looks and sound of some, Dangers is the Word. I am pulling a 88 Blue Fin 1700 Sportsman with my 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland.

I tow a 170 Sea Ray w/ an 04 F-150 with a 5.4L. 2 wheel drive. Sea Ray weighs 3100 lbs with trailer and gear. Drag it 70 mph and the only way you know it is there is the 14-15 mpg it gets. Plenty of power, rated for towing at 10,000 lbs. I have never spun a tire at the ramp.
