Close enough on the transom for sure.

I got two boxes that size for 70 noodles in total is that enough?

And one more question does anyone know where I can find the recipe for Rustoleum paint?

GA is one of the many awesome guys on here. There is a wealth of info on this site.

Maybe I can help on the rivets. I drilled them out with a 1/16 to 3/32 first, then a 3/16" or 1/4" depending on the rivet. Use a screw machine length (short) to prevent flexing and walking. A 135 degree split point is self centering and will be easier to keep in the middle.

Hope this helps.

GA you are awesome as usual

Only if I could remember the Admirals birthday and our anniversary. :embarassed:

I have more of the forums bookmarked than anything else, I swear.

Thanks, guys. Plenty of smarter guys here.

There is really a wealth of information here, and anyone that helps in this thread with info is actually getting a little space on the boat as well.

Part of the neat thing to doing something like this is that it is mine, and I can customize it in anyway I see fit.

HA when I initially created my facebook page I put my anniversary on it wrong, AND it stayed that way for 5 months the admiral was NOT amused.

I fit 72 in mine but that's leaving the large area in the center for my in-floor storage (that I never use :p)

Re: Time to get started on the starcraft resto.

I am really late tonight posting today's update but I always post these updates while I am at work. Sometimes occasionally I actually have to do that little nasty 4 letter word when I am here. :cold:

So for today we stenciled and did this which is ALOT more complicated than it appears.

Then we started doing this which was alot easier than one would think.

THen at 1:43 pm est in the great state of Tennessee a new transom was born.

I still need to screw and glue it together I am using Gorilla glue. But it is a REALLY tight fit requiring the use of a Mallet and 2x4 to tap it the last 1/2" into place.

:thumb: And what name did you bestow on the newborn? Not bad for less than a month in, Sig. :D

I also used a poly glue for my transom but it was the Titebond. If the Gorilla is the same then some advice I have is to use only a thin coating on one side and wipe the other piece down with a damp towel to moisten the wood since that's what activates the stuff. I also used a very stout steel wire hand brush to rough up the wood surface before the gluing. Also put the A side (sanded) out which helps as well.

I used a bit too much Titebond and let me tell you that stuff has an epic squeeze out!

Yep & yep!

If you don't have the 2 pcs well screwed & clamped, the glue's expansion & foaming will push the 2 pcs apart. Almost like great stuff foam.

No names for it yet :) It will definetly have some literature on her somewhere soon though.

The admiral asked me yesterday if we are going to name this boat, as we haven't named our last two boats, and honestly I couldn't think of anything cool to call her.

EZ that compliment means the world after seeing your restoration which is what really kind of got me wanting to do this in the first place. So I blame you  But that is not a horrible thing.

I have plenty of clamps set aside for this so we are going to be ready to go soon.

UGH I still haven't bought any rivets yet though and I have a ton of stainless screws to buy.

I still haven't figured out what to do about gauges yet. So I see more money going bye bye soon.

Super job on fitting the floor and the transom Sig. I run some 1 1/4" deck screw in the transom to secure the center, it will get sealed up anyhow. Just watch you don't put any in the line where the splashwell goes or Murphy will make sure one will be in the way.
There are some real good deals on Flebay for gauges, that's were the ones in the SS came from.

Lots of gauges on greatlakesskipper.com as well. For your outboard though, they only things that will be essentially plug and play will be a tach, voltmeter, and perhaps a trim gauge and a fuel gauge. I got this sweet multifunction gauge from GLS that I thought was going to be the bee's knees but it turned out to be an epic fail. The trim reads backwards (Mercs are opposite from OMC), the temp apparently isn't compatible with the range of the sender I bought (motor could be fully engulfed in flames and the needle might move a hair), the volts work fine but even the fuel one is a bit wonky. So I'm going to be redoing mine in the future. My tach is separate thankfully works fine.

For mine, the blame went to this guy: http://forums.iboats.com/starcraft-boats/18-starcraft-supersport-bowrider-restoration-212191.html Too bad he didn't stick around. When I had my closed bow I wanted that boat SO BAD.

Ohhh wow thanks for the heads up I was on Great lakes skipper last night and came 2 clicks away from ordering a multi gauge.
