Re: The passing of Don S

Very sad news. Don was one of the best contributors to this forums and helped many people get their boats back in the water or maintained.. I never had the priviladge to meet him personally, and he did have to set me straight a few times, but could always tell he was a genuine good guy. Rest In Peace Don.

My sincere sympathy to Don's family.
He is one of those men who was very knowledgeable, and witty at the same time. I am thankful for the time and effort he spent here at iboats. He will be missed, along with some of his NASCAR comments.

I haven't been on this site for long time but heard the news on Bayliner Owners Club. I first met DonS there in 2003. I admired his knowledge and his straight forwardness. The community is sorely going to miss him. RIP DonS.

God Bless you and your family, Don S. In my short time on iboats, you provided me accurate and direct guidance. I can only hope to be as knowledgeable in any subject as you were with I/O's.

Re: The passing of Don S

I'm at a complete loss ...

I feel like I just learned to speak "Don" a few months ago. He could be so abrupt that I always had this mental image of the classic "grumpy old guy" tapping away at his computer. Then he and I got clownin' around a bit with Photoshop and Illustrator stuff and I saw a completely different side of him.

This is Don's 4AM train:

My condolences to the family and those of you closer to him than I. All thoughts and prayers as you mourn his passing.

Don, the ball ain't broke no more. (HERE's how Don woulda' helped me find the cartoon - BTW :D) You will be terribly missed. Rest well, and thanks for all of the wisdom.

Ah geez that hurts. It just hurts. We swapped a few posts here and there, particularly about the problems IE7 had with the forum upgrade. He talked me into switching to Chrome which, of course, solved everything. His wiring diagrams will be helping folks out for years to come. RIP, Don.

Great one, southkogs, I've got tears in my eyes and laughing my tail off at the same time.

I've been at a loss for words all day about Don's passing, but had to add something as I truly respected Don.

Thank you Don, for all you have done for the iboat forums and it's members. We will miss you, your help, insight and knowledge. It's not going to be the same around here without you, but we'll keep the flame burning, by passing along the knowledge that you passed onto us.

Re: The passing of Don S

words are not enough to describe how purely shocked i got reading this.

i did not knew don personally but he invested that much time helping me sorting out issues , it hurts and feels like i would know him personally.

without any doubt his passing will be a big loss to any boater on this forum , but the real important thing is that his family will find the power to cope with this situation.

my thoughts and wishes go to the people who are closest to him .

RIP Don.

This reminds me of the effort he put into the iboats calendar we did a couple of years ago. It didn't turn out to be a commercial success but those of us that got them certainly enjoyed them and he put the whole thing together from the start.

Wow this is such a stunner. I actually am very sad now as I read all of these replies. Don was a huge part of why I got so far on my boat maintenance. Really really sad. Please give my condolences to his family. I hope they know the huge following he has here on this forum. I didn't even know him that long but I feel an enormous emptiness already.

RIP Don.
