Re: STARCRAFT OWNERS Check in

Howdy all...first time poster, here.
I've got a '76 Starcraft Seafarer 16' aluminum hull fishing boat that my Grandfather ordered new for himself when he was a Starcraft dealer. It was the last thing he bought before hanging up the franchise. It's got a long history and is in the process of getting a little makeover of sorts. Still have the original 18hp Evinrude on the back, TeeNee trailer and even the anchor cranks! haha. Been using this boat myself for about 20+ years and am treating it to a restoration. It is still super solid thankfully....just going to update it a bit.
Thanks in advance to anyone with any advice!

Welcome aboard! Cool story Ben, glad you're still enjoying your grandpa's boat:)

I've still got my grandpa's boat too so I know how you feel.

Check out the restoration section, start a thread of your own if you haven't already. Lots of good help here.

Re: STARCRAFT OWNERS Check in

I am on my third Starcraft. I must say that I am hooked. Currently restoring a 1966 Jupiter. My next Starcraft will have to be an Islander.

Photo is of the Jupiter when I picked it up. It is currently torn apart and waiting for me to finish the paint on the bottom then install the new floor & transom. I have a 1985 Johnson 115 ready to take the place of the original 1966 Evinrude 60hp SportFour.

Nice Starcraft project! Is that the original windshield? I'm looking for a good replacement for my 1960 Starcraft Viscount

I just picked up this beauty in April. After pulling the carbs and rewiring the nav lights I've put about 50 hours on it. Love this boat.

$500 bucks was a hell of a deal considering what others have paid for theirs.156471_10100789293107314_1973231743_n.jpg538684_10100844506045144_924991543_n.jpg580283_10100789293247034_1032681582_n.jpg

Re: STARCRAFT OWNERS Check in

Not a lot going on, did manage to get out on Memorial Day weekend at Lake Wissota, Chippewa falls, WI. Got caught in a heck of storm on the lake. Could not even see to drive, sat it out in little bay till it blew over. Now Just waiting for my SOTY plaque:D.

Here she is at the dock on Lake Wissota.

Yep, all original when I picked it up. I wish I could find a deal on a 1968 & up Jupiter windshield but the original windshield has cleaned up nicely and will get reinstalled soon.

Re: STARCRAFT OWNERS Check in

I just picked up another starcraft last night.
This one is a 16' jupiter. If someone could tell me how to tell the year from the serial number it would be greatly apreciated.
There's no HIN on the back of the hull on this one.
This is the way I got it, so it will never be restored back to original... But I'm still not sure on what kind of layout I'm going to do with it yet.

With the lapstrake going all the way down it's early 60's. Mine was a '66 and didn't have lapstrake below the chine.
