Send North Beach a message..... he has a 1965 brochure scanned in and if you measure your transom (width) you can probably match it up really close. I will bet it is 50-60 hp w/o looking it up.

My 1966 15'r is rated at 85 hp.

Thank you Sir.

Re: STARCRAFT OWNERS Check in

I have a 1963 Starcraft Scout...Has a 1963 Sterling Trailer and a 1963 35 HP ( 350 ) Mercury Motor....
Only paid $440.00 for it. Replaced solenoid on motor and the tilt lever stops so far on motor...gel coated a worn spot on bottom at rollers....Now working on loosening up the steering wheel..It has the original Drum and Cable system..cables in good shape and so are the pulleys..The steering is just tight at the wheel...got the nut off now trying to get the steering wheel off..
Are there bearings in the steering wheel that need to be grease??

Good Thread..will get picks up soon...Finished painting 2 tone on bottom and sides and hoping to get it into the water soon after Iget the steering wheel issue solved.

Thanks

Welcome there highridgejoe!

Uhhhh no there are no fittings to grease but it is not uncommon for those oled drum units to pick up corrosion and wear. I have one I am going to replace on mine since the bolts on the back broke and I have a teleflex single cable to install.

Have you used penetrating oil on the shaft where it goes through the dash? I suspect you might have to take it apart and clean it.

Re: STARCRAFT OWNERS Check in

Finally...got a round to snapping a pic from my phone while at the lake fishing with my son (in the background).

The forward fishing seat (my son's throne  ) is a neat rig that is completely removable and very solid. The foredeck is reinforced underneath and the chair itself is a folding seat, attached to a base from an office chair, which is attached to a long brass pipe which drops into a 4" fitting on the deck under the foredeck. The cool part is the seat swivels and reclines. My butt seat sits directly in front of the motor so we have tons of space for movement/fishing.

Still looking for back-to-back seats on craigslist. Retail is sooo much.

Re: STARCRAFT OWNERS Check in

OK, here is my what I think is a 1968 16' Jupiter with what I think is a early 70's Merc 1000; 100 horse. Yeah, a bit overpowered, but that means I can fly past those others...
Going to get the motor going in a couple of weeks, then mount the new seats, finally refinish the vinyl interior trim this year. Over winter, I plan on redoing the transom, it has a bit of rot in the top port side corner, then painting her with Interlux Brightside Polyurethane. Any help is always appreciated...

Thanks :) The boat looks better but my camera phone takes crappy pictures, I couldn't believe that the engine ran until I fired it up! It has a Mercury 115 on it.
