Re: STARCRAFT OWNERS Check in

Hello Everyone.
As you can see this is my 1st post. I just acquired a 1972 Star craft Super sport. I will post some pics of it. I am planing on rebuilding and painting. It has an Evinrude 85hp outboard. Every thing looks solid. I was told that the motor keeps blowing a fuse. Anyone have an idea of why this happens?
Also Great thread.

Thanks Steve Marsh

Welcome to Iboats forums Steve, I think if you ask the question about the fuse over in the Evenrude outboards forum you'll get a better response. It will also keep this forum from being hijacked with posts about your fuse issue. I think I can get you going in the right direction but I'll respond to you in the other forum.

OK, I bought a new Starcraft utility 6 years ago, but thought I'd check in on this thread with my "new" one that I got two days ago:

Remarkable isn't it. These boats have changed very little over the years. That classic design is still present today. Sure, they dropped the nose a little for a couple of years, made most of them bow riders and they raised the gunwales a time or two but they still have that unmistakeable Starcraft signature look. I've got to hand it to the folks at Starcraft for not wavering when they were under the gun at Brunswick.

A Starcraft is a Starcraft, everything else, (Lund, Tracker, etc.) are just copies.

You're right, I didn't even notice how little the design had changed until you mentioned it. In my post above, compare the 2003 in my avatar pic to the 1964. Amazing.

1971 aluminum Starcraft 16ft Supersport with 1971 60HP Johnson Looper
I bought her off E-Bay about 3 years ago...a labor of love..
Stripped her down to the bare hull and started over
Tightened one rivit in the bow/replaced foam/replaced 1/2inch floor with 3/4"
New carpet/new wiring/new flat blade style fuse box/replaced dash/new
tach/added more switches/replaced navigation stern light/enlarged
bilge pump and inlarged drain hole for the bilge pump...list goes on and on
don't know what it has cost me so far...don't want to know...but I love
what I got:D
