Re: St. Augustine in May/June: UPDATED: Now With Dates!

So far so good with me.....If all works as planned. I was hoping to leave St. Augustine after the get-together, do my business, spend a week or two visiting friends before returning home. Things have changed around here, I got myself another boat to captain and visiting friends is pretty much out of the trip anyway. I'll do all I can to finalize everything before the meet. Then I'll be one happy camper.

My new baby.

I understand the vacation planning, I have to do the same thing, I lay mine out for the full year and do it before the new year starts that way nobody else has any of my days already planned off that would prevent me from getting them. My wife has just started a new job and does not have any days to schedule right now, that is why the drive down on Friday and return home on Sunday. Looking forward to the weekend and meeting everyone.

Glad things are looking good, sasto. Things seem to be starting to flow my way, too.

That's quite a large baby you've got there... Must've been a big stork:rolleyes:.
She's beautiful, sasto.:) Gonna tell us about her?... With pics, inside and out?

Come on man, share the love:D

Nice tub!!

Did you get that personally or is that the one you'll be captaining? Are there any trips planned?

Are you kidding? Captain job. :) Trips are planned to Key West, Bahamas, and just maybe St. Augustine.

Don't count me out on the invitation to stay on your yacht, Fireman. Absolute-ly.

When you called her your new baby, I just assumed she was yours (by ownership).

Your a true Captain, sasto... She is your baby...

Lookin' forward to the new thread. My first guestimate is 54'. Who built her?... Ya know what, now that I'm thinking about it, don't even answer that question now... Please save it for the new thread and I'll stop trying to involve you in my thread 'jacking activities:facepalm:. I'm so ashamed:rolleyes:;).

I'm gonna be bending your ear for info on the Key West trip. The wife and I want to do that, but I'm unsure if spending that much time on the boat would drive our 10 y/o insane.

You're more than welcome to stay on the boat (yacht?!?...please...I wish). I maybe asking for the return favor in the fall at Nettles Island...

When I was 10, or any age at any stage of my life, the only part of spending time on any boat which drove me insane, was having to leave the boat and go home!!!

Anyway, can't wait to meet everyone... Things are looking better and better...

Anytime.....Fireman, except a month or two in the summer when school is out, unless you want your 10yr old learning some bad habits from some teanagers.

I started a thread just for you, my friend. :)

I was in the Carib. for a couple months on "my boat", when the owner showed up I had some explaining to do. Just captain jargon.

If our son isn't too demented from what he has witnessed right here at home, I'm guessing he'll be OK. His older brothers (25 & 18) are doing more than their fair share of warping his little mind.

Oh ye!

Looks like to me...if I were to come in the inlet the first thing I would do is stop and ask for directions. Then proceed....keeping closer to the red ones heading south (not the river, the ICW). After I passs under the 25' bridge....I make a right and hail the marina

Is the bridge work done? Friday the 10th between 3:00 and 5:00PM looks like a good time for me to come flying in there...and not have to worry about the current throwing another boat in front of me.

Any objections or opinions otherwise?

Slack tide gives a 1/2 hour window of smoooove:D. When in doubt, wait it out... Or react with confident aggression of action, what ever works for you, Captain... Just my very humble opinion;).

Looking forward to the new thread...

Correct. Follow some of the other boaters in also as nothing beats local knowledge. The only weird thing is if you're approaching down river from the north. You would head east as if you're heading out the inlet and then double back south. I can send you an email with the channel mapped out if you need it. The marina is just south of the bridge, on the west side. Can't miss it. (Of course, I saw in another thread where you missed an island...)

Yep.

You're leaving a boat there for a week? We had changed the date of the get-together to the 18th due to our child care issues. It should be earlier in this thread.

EDIT: Here is the earlier posting:

Well, I'm now looking at Saturday, June 18th as the date (we'll see how far I get with this one).

I'll leave Sanford on Thursday the 16th, hang out on the hook in Jax that night and be in St. Augustine Friday the 17th. Still plan for the get together the next day.

Sounds good...Fireman, I just may drive all day for that! Sam Adams, please.

If all works well as planned I will leave DE on the 17th. Still in the thought of bringing a boat, leave her there for a couple days, do my business, and return. I'll figure that out later.

From his post here I think he is planning on doing just that, bring the boat up, go do business, come back and be ready for whatever.

that is a plan, nlain. I don't have any set plans on how I will get there, but, I'll be there one way or another.

Fireman, I've been studying charts and the GPS. Thanks for the info!
