Re: sold a boat and it busted!

$8,000 buys a heckuva nice double-wide with polyester curtains and a redwood deck in those parts from what I understand.:D:D:D

Another interesting thing I did was used Virtual Earth to locate the house from sattelite (lol, it is not a doublewide!). I could zoom in using Bird's Eye of View and see people in the yards etc. Too bad I didn't see the boat, but I don't know when the picture was taken. When I look at my house I see a 1990 Buick that I sold about 2 months before I sold the boat! Neat piece of software though.

If the kid only knew “Big Bumpkin” was watching him ...

This just is just too bizarre. I hope you get a good judge this time around.

Good luck.

$8K in fire damage. That's not very much damage either.

Sometimes local FDs will have pictures of incidents on their website ;)

Re: sold a boat and it busted!

ever hired a fire restoration company???.....

8k is about what they charge to clean ashtrays never mind the smoke damage. :D

but.....the fire is a mooot point...unless you can prove the letter was given before the fire.....the court case was 2 months after the fire .

the best the judge will see is that the kid is trying to pull one over on the courts....judges dont like that at all. the judge might just put togeather a pattern in the kids thinking process.

just a few more days......good luck cb

After winning the suit, which you should, file a lawsuit against them for fraud and deflamation of character. Ruin their life.
Note: When you sent notice of the court date, did you send it return receipt requested?
This would be your evidence that they lied to the court, and demand the court officials do their duty..

As a kid I was always taught that two wrongs do make a right. I am all for defending yourself in court, but once this frivolous suit is over, just walk away. There is no need to tie up the courts with new law suits.

Good luck CB, I will be watching for your update on 10/20.

I can't say I agree with that 100%, unless the judge somehow fines the annoying kid and his mom, then I wouldn't feel like justice has been served. It won't prevent him from doing this again to someone else. He needs to be taught a lesson, all those like him do.
I feel that CB is well entitled to some sort of compensation for all his wasted time and expenses. Time is money and he's invested plenty of it for something that was not his fault. The courts need to stop idiots like this kid from wasting our time and the courts time with these types of law suits.

I agree with everyone here buy beware sold as ect... but you should check you state laws some states have laws in place to protect buys for a few days laws that came about from guys selling cars and trucks with sawdust in the transmission or cheap fixs to problems that wont hold up. you sound like a good hearted person that is being honest which also makes you a target for someone to take advantage of yeah I would feel bad for the kid to I would offer him all the free advice he wants but if you give him any money you are at that point admitting guilt by your actions (giveing money back) then if he took it to court he would have something to stand on. did you have a friend or family member with you when you sold him the boat that could be witness to the fact that you showed him the oil was full and clean? these are things you may not want to think about but i was a boy scout and you know the be prepared thing.

I had my daughter, my wife and oh, yeah......this guy brought a friend with him. I never mentioned that before. But he did bring a friend. His friend checked it all out with him.

Actually in one of our original phone conversations he accused my of 'topping' the oil off to make it look clean and full. This was not the case. I made a mess of it the first time I changed it. I had no idea of how to do it.

Here was the thread that I discussed changing the oil a few weeks before I sold the boat: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=196430
