Yea i cant belive it , thats a lot of hit just for my little thread !! thanks buddie couldnt have done it with out you and a bunch of other great guys on here !!! John

PS got the heater on in the garage want to get at least 8 hours on her today !!

Hay guys and Gals !!

Well , I got 8 plus hours on her !!
Its turning out pertty good !!
My little pancake did really great ,
I oiled the sander really well before i started this morning .
It would run even when i ran the tank out ,
now it wasnt as fast as it could have been but it didnt get me in trouble like it would have with it running full out !!

5 inch sanding pad 220 grit !!
I ran out of disk so at 6;30 i had to quit !!!

Ok now here is the transom ,
there are two cracks i ground out bigger so i could shove epoxy and glass in there ,
the transom is at a little different angle then where the splash well meets the transom ,
so there was a gap in there that i didnt know about till i put the motor on there last year ,
when i tightened up the motor mounts i cracked her .
So here the pics of the splahwell ,
there is still a little more i want to clean up on there ,
then a hole lot of marine-tex to it !!!lol

OHh on the transom , splash well there you will never guess what i used to sand it ??? My brand new blet sander i go for christmas !! hahaha yea i know , but i had to , with me shoving all the glass behind there it was all uneven , and just put the sander on low and took most of it off , then saved the last for the sander !!

the transom splash well was on of the worst spots , the dash was another spot, where i filled the holes with the wood , and i still have to fill , On the lower left side i have some more plugs ready to get cemented in there !!

then the bow was another spot that was really bad !! not so much now still got some more sanding to do here , in fact when i was cleaning up there are a few spots all over that i need to hit again , nothing major just touch up !!

and then the spot over on the starboard side where the window mounts on the side here i need to hit a little more , but the top is smooth , really smooth !!!

Ok now the transom is the worst spot, and the keel , what a mess my work bench is ,all the power tools i am useing are on it !! lol

well the top is really getting there, just about ready to marine-tex , i hope for the last time !! when i get to the sidews and the bottom i am hopeing that it will move a lot faster , wont have all the corners and all the ledges to deal with !! John

Pull deck , pull foam cut stringers out , think transom is fine , nope its rotton , pull top , Post padding, replace stringers , and transom, pour foam , post padding, top on, run it for 3 months , start sanding again, post padding !! and your up to date !! lol John post padding !! lol

Post padding, post padding, a hour of work, 3 months of post padding then there was the other two hours of work, then post padding and drawing people to look at nothing then post padding. Then one day there was something useful then just when you thought there was something good............ Post pad pad pad for a few months. Then there was again something good but done in the wrong way so its not anything to go on. Then there is post pad all the way up til 20,000 suckers are duped into clicking on the link to lazyness. But John I think you are doing a GREAT JOB!!!!!!! No kidding!!!!!! I wish i had a garauge to do my work. I got to wait til spring.

Hi all,

Well i have been thinking about when i paint , the salamander blows a lot of air when i run it , won't it blow the paint so it won't level right ??? just how much wind can i let blow ?? lol or how long before it sets up where i can run the salamander ???I am just hoping by next month that it warms up into the 30's there has been one day sence January 4 that has been above 30 !!! if it does the salamander does a really great job getting it to the low 80's in the garage , when its in the single digits it makes it to the 70's !!

Well tomorrow plan is to get the top done and pull the rub rail !!! and start on the sides !! John

Ps TD did you use a primer on your ride ??

Might be to much oil in the air for paint witch could cause fish eyes in your paint i wold look in to some electic heaters for paint day

I dont think that will be a problem , she burns petty hot !! I dont see anything flying when i fire her up !! I am more worried about the wind !! and how long before it sets up ??

And should i use primer ????? I was reading last night on the rustoleum site and it was talking about primer for fiberglass, but what about over the gelcoat ??

Also I was thinking that if i get it hot enought in there that the light will work , I can move them and they are hot !!

Ok now today , THE RUB RAIL IS OFF !!! lol the top is allmost done , I have to do some hand sanding , in the corners and along the lip , but where i am going to marine tex is set !!! so thursday , [ got to work tomorrow ] I am going to sand the sides and save some time at the end to marie tex !! I hope !! lol I also worked on the butt crack got it sanded out petty good !! I am hopeing i can get the side all sanded thur, and then the transom !!! John

yah now that i think about it your right lol.. oh john i was watchin that beach patrol and some guy was drunk and drove his boat onto the beach... he looked exactly liked you.. but the boat was different .. plus i know you wouldn't do that.. just i saw him and thought of you lol
