Man i love the service from U S Composities , Just got a phone call from mark there , he was looking at my order and called me saying I had ordered the thick epoxy which wouldnt wet out the glass !!! so he said i should get the thin!! Order will be shiped frist thing in the morning !!! I have worked with epoxy before but I guess never with the thick !!! so I am really glad he called !!! we need more shops like that !!! John

That alone is testament enough for me to use them for anything I need to order. I am so itching to get itchy from my boat! I'm thinking that I may try the rustoleum marine paint they sell at Gander Mountain..it's 7 bucks a pint and they have the two colors I want to use ( bright white and bright red )... if I end up liking the way it paints I may use it to paint my boat. I'm going to try it on my glass topper for my truck...white truck, maroon topper...wife hates it so I can get away with it, especially for 7 bucks!

Yep I agree hole hearted Red!!!! I am going to use them anytime I need some thing !!! When he called , we talked for a min, I told him I frist heard of them from here , and that I was going to recommend him to everyone On here!!

Thats my colors I am useing !!! candy apple red !!!! and bright white !! doing the seats in red and white also . my uncle worked for Fords , 30 years , at the seat part , so hes doing mine !! and were doing the canvas on her also !! I got a big glastron sticker that is red in color that i am putting on her!!!!! And the classic glastron paint job!!!

I was also wondering about the rustoleum marine paint I have read a few good thing on here about it !! and seen a few pics and it looked pertty darn good !!!!!! I think they have a clear coat too. I want to do that over the sticker , my sticker is 18 inchs tall by 50 inchs long !! it will fit nice on the out side wings of my tri-hull !!

Well I got to work tomarrow then I am off thur, and friday , So i am going to be busy,also got a family reunion here sunday so its going to be busy around here , wanted to get on her tonight for a little but still sick . been sence sat so going to take it easy tonight and hit it good tomarrow !!!!! John

OK guys and gals !! the transom is in , well at least two coats of glass 7oz eglass !!!want to get one more of the 10oz egalss on the transom !! then hit the stringers tomorrow !!!!

Man ooops that zero bubblies is a pain it the [ you know what ]

Ok everyone Well I didn't get as far as i wanted to today but got some of it , got the 3 layer of 10 oz eglass on the transom , OOOHHH yea when i got in her this morning I pulled on the transon and man It didn't move but a 1/4 inch where the old transom moved 3/4 or more she is solid,

that is the last of the 10 oz , I took a few pic before this but I didn't look , the wife had the card out so i lost the pics of how I had the transom bolted down !!!!!!on this next pix at the bottom of the transom you can see the Pl premium , under it

this next is the Side braces of the transom before being glassed , it does have the Pl premium under it

I did get the first layer og 7 oz on the braces then had to run the dogs to the vets and then had to run 7 plus cord of wood out to my buddies , so that shot the rest of the day,
One more thing I did epoxy two pieces of the composite together yesterday , well i got a pipe wrench on the one and tride to get them apart , nope it didnt break it was stuck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was the other pic that i lost this morning , I will take it again tomrrow !! John

Ok I need a expert !!! On the stringers there was a cross brace [ i guess you call it ] sitting on the top , it was free floating , do i need to leave it free or can i glass it in place ???
I been thinking about it for a while and know the boat is going to twist and with it glassed in will it put stress in the spots where it touches the hull ??? or if i glass it in and glass the ends to the hull will t just twist the hull with it ?? thanks John

Ok everyone , well I got the pic of me trying to get apart the two pieces of composites apart !! man they are stuck !!

Today man it was a hot one out there , but it was really humid the epoxy took for ever I was only able to bet the two side stringers in and tab them in and then one coat of 7oz on there . I had my little one out there helping me hold it well lets just say she lost it and the pl premium went all over under the glass we got it back up but i got some grinding to do tomarrow before I go on !!

Its kind of hard to see its on the bottom of the pic , she tried !!!

can anyone answer about the question in the post i had before this one ?? thanks John

Man ooohhh Man , with just the one layer of 7 1/2 oz of eglass and the epoxy the two stringer are pertty solid now !!1 I got a couple of spots ground out that i wanted to and I got the second layer of 7 oz on and she is drying now which is going to take the rest of the night , its raining out !!! tomarrow after the party here I am going to put the center stringer in !! and then get that one started glassong that one in and get the last layer of the 10 oz on the outer stringers !!! Hope by tue, can start the foam !! I am going to pour the foam before i put the floor in , I got a piece of pkexy glass that I am going to put over after i pour and see how that goes !!

I am really seeing the end here , I want to put a 300 hp merc on the back of her now !!! hahaha tha transom is really solid !!! and the top not even on yet !!! lol

Still looking for a answer to the cross brace on the stringers !! should I glass them or not ??? John

The cross braces on my boat just had been cut into the top of the stringer wood and then they took a glop of fiberglass and secured them to the bottom of the boat by just sloppily folding up the glass to hold in in place. I think the only purpose is for bolting the floor down to. I'd probably give them a tab of glass to hold them from shifting... You could probably just get away with PL'ing them down.

thanks redfury ,when i took mine apart they were just sitting there not glassed or glued , I am going to have glass let so i think i wil glass them in !! and yep i agree there just to bolt the sets down , mine just had one in I am going to put two in !! so thanks red , John

I haven't posted them to my shareaproject page yet, but I took pictures to show what Glastron did originally. Seems like a good idea to document how it was built originally as well as how it's re-engineered.

Yep I agree . I got mine on my photo bucket , it was just sitting there . and I also got pics of how they didn't glass in all the stringers or all the transom , I mine sure is now !! there not going to be a drop of water getting to it now , Well not by contact , if it can seep throw all the glass and epoxy I got on it thats the only way it getting to it now !!!
I didn't get to that third stringer tonight everyone didn't leave here till about 9 so I will tomorrow !! It as a pertty good party here seen a few relitives I havet seen in a few years , so that was fun !!! John

Hay all . i got the third layer of glass on the two outer stringers and also got the frist and second layers of glass on the center stringer!!!!! tomarrow get the last layer on, and cut the pvc tubing to run down the center, oohh yea and the cross members and the braces at the end get them glassed so still got some work to do before the foam. hay all , man what a short week and one of the longest !!!!
we just got back from vacation !!!! went up to Mullet lake, Aloha state park , spent the last 8 days up there, it was great weather,rained one night .
But it was ruff watching all the boats go by ! knowing mine is just a few days away !!
Well I got tomarrow , so more up dates tomarrow !!! John

hahahahahah you noticed !!!! hahha i did have some on before the pics, I put a hole in them and didnt notice it till it was running out the palms , so it was to late them and I just went at it !!! it was a pain to get off !! lol thanks red
