oops that is a good point. I just remembered on mine that when I removed the starter one of the cast mounts was cracked and broken off so clean you couldnt tell with the bolt in it but as soon as I pulled the other side the whole started and that chunk fell on the ground! Perhaps not having it tight allowed enough torque to snap the mount and it is bound...

Sorry to here about the engine trouble, at least it almost got you through the holiday. Now it's time to get a monster motor on the back of that thing. All you want them to see of your boat is a red flash streaking by and a huge rooster tail going away!! There goes Johnny :D

John I like your SWMBO already :D. I agree with her with all the blood sweat and itch you put into that boat and how awesome she came out it would be a shame to toss her out over an outboard heck you could probably get tht one rebuilt resonably and it is a pretty Merc :D.

Yea if i could find parts for her , I am petty sure I can only use up to a 68 merc for parts !! so thats the tuffy !! I agree I love the motor but to get her ground out and refit I can get a different one !! John

Well the good thing is with the way you redid her and how modern she looks you could actually drop a new 4 stroke on her and it would look like it belonged :D.

Re: pic of work so far

Pics look great and the boat looks awesome. I can't believe that even for a second you would consider selling the whole thing. (I know you weren't possibly serious) Outboards can be had not too expensively and the cost will be offset somewhat by parting out your old one. Find a little newer Merc or JohnnyRude 115. I'm betting you could find one for under a grand. However I DO know that's still a lot of money and it's going to suck but a totally redone boat is worth the investment. You should still tear into your Merc though to see how bad things really are inside. Is it the top cylinder that went? Aren't those the problematic ones on those Merc towers?
