I stopped in Silver Springs once n my younger years...Didn't have a camera...went out on one of the glass bottom boats..man that is some clear water...and the bass...huge!

I have not been there in prolly 23 yrs. Need to make it back down there sometime..

I DON'T wanna be around if that BOW eye ever Pops out. I like that Lift eye too! Very unique feature.

Thanks Wood ! I need to cut the shaft down about an inch. I have never re threaded anything like this. Could I buy a tap and dye set and just do it myself? Or maybe find a mach shop around and let them do it..

I see NO reason why you could not tap those threads yourself. Some machine oil and a good vice and a tap and away yu go. Tap it first then cut to siize.

Thanks Wood gotta pic up some more acetone so I'll swing by h/f and see if they have a tap there.

OK time to get back on the project.. Doing some prep on the cap gunna start with 100 grit then 150 . From there I have some 220 so I guess I'll use it. Sound ok before prime?

I've been thinking on the gellcoat on the deck . I want to transition from the valspar to gellcoat at about the blue tape line. Should I just cover the gellcoat area so not to get any primer on it. I want to paint the deck last. Will the gellcoat harden to quickly to just tape the transition. I also have these textured step pads that I may gellcoat white. You think that would look silly?

Also can you apply small amounts of the 3m premium filler in between coats of paint if needed for touch up without sanding all the way down to glass? If not whats the best option over primer or paint?
Thanks!

SP, I would take a file and see if you can "cut" the shaft where the threads need to be before going and buying a Die to cut the threads. If it is hard, you will at best have a very difficult time cutting threads- or worse just break your Die. If you can mark it with a file you should be good to proceed.

Looks like everyone is having a good time on vacation!

Congrats on 25 yrs, me and my mrs just celebrated 8 in April. (second time around for both, it seems to have worked this time  ) The vacation looked like fun!

Thanks CW ! I guess at 8 yrs your prolly pretty much over the hump..;)

It's been raining big bucket loads down here the last couple of days. Gunna try and shoot some primer sometime tomorrow. That is if I ever get the splashwell area ready to go . It's kinda kickin my butt a little. As long as I am in the garage I should be ok priming ya think?

He's got the right idea with this weather I think..

All the kleets and bow light were white so I will repaint them white. I think that would accent the stripes well.

Just a little more sanding on the splash area and I think she'll be ready for primer. I rolled it outside and will give it a quick wash and dry in the morning. I also need to do a clean up of the garage and reclose it in for the painting. With all the rain the mosquitoes are gettin kinda bad. Should be able to get the first coat of primer on tomorrow hopefully ..:)

A little touchup here and there but I think it looks decent.. The worst part was keeping the hose off what was already primed getting in and out of the boat..

Make a couple of Clothes Hangar Hooks and screw em into the ceiling to manage your hose when you do the final coats of color. The Stern Looks FACTORY. NICE!!!!
