That's 4 for # 5 so far I think my wife was leaning #5 also.
I think I need to get 1 more qt of the blue to make enough for the cap and inside the hull + some extra for touch up storage .
I added 1/2 tsp blue for every sample.
Thanks for everyone's input !

I suspect the other 4 votes don't matter even if it was 4 @ #1 or any other #, if the Admiral is leaning towards #5:D

Not to be different..but I held my hand up and made a tube to look through...remember when we were kids and needed a spy scope?

I think #6 looks closer when only looking at it and the Vinyl...

But #5 looks good too.

Really hard to tell from a picture..the right side of the vinyl is darker then the left...

Yea artificial light can throw you off a little I think #6 is prolly closer there is very little difference . I will look at it in the daylight and when I make a large batch I will do another sample in case it needs tweaking a little.

Got a late start on mixing paint had to finish cutting the lawn.
Mixed up 3 batches using my formula . I did add 1 tsp blue to each one .

I am really pleased with how well they matched the cup in my hand was #6.

Ok lets have some iboats eyeball fun! Lets test your observation skills ..
One of these cups was the first try at the color match I used my formula to save it. Only had to add 9 tbs blue to it.

Step right up and guess which cup and win a prize !!
Good luck everyone!

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Thanks Trooper, Wood,
Hope to put 2 more coats on tomorrow. Any idea how I can avoid having a ridge on the stripes? I have it masked off about 3/4" to the inside of the stripe on both sides. My thought is tape it a little further out the next coat then when I paint the stripe but the layers overlapping just a hair , wet sand flat the only ridge would be the last coat of white.
Is there a better way?

SP, you are doing some fantastic work. The transom area looks like it came out of a mold with all the shinny paint on it.
The whole boat looks awesome. Very Cool!!!

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Thanks you gentlemen !
There's a little dip and ding here or there but over all I am pleased with it. I just put the 3rd coat on the cap and I only put 2 coats on the inside gunwhale area . I think I may shoot one more coat on the cap and then start working on the stripes this week. I still need to come up with a good plan on the stripes. I wonder if I can buff the ridge down after the paint has cured? I just realized I am getting close to start installing the windshield and other hard ware and starting the seats.  :p
I picked up some rusto self etching prime in the can for the kleets and other allum stuff I will be painting.
You all have a great start to the week!

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

I would wait a month or two before you start buffing on those stripes. If you MUST try and work on the Stripe ridge lines immediately, I'd start with 1000 grit wet sanding but... it prolly will affect the shine. If it were me, I'd live with it till the off season and then work on em. By the way did you know about this. I'm thinking about trying it this fall on the BF. I'm gunna re shoot her then and then try this stuff...
