Thanks ! BTW I am still not sure of your plan . You stated earlier that you wanted to make the boat higher and then you said you wanted to cut the top half of the boat off like I did.. I am assuming that you mean take the top cap off or at least the back gunnel cap loose enough to get to the transom to replace it.. Is that correct? And if your grandfather owns a boat shop he should be able to get the materials at a better price for you . That would be great! Anyway start you a restore thread and git busy !

I found some 1/2 thick aluminum laying around at work . I think I will use it for the bow eye . I have a couple more for the stearn also.
I think it will be plenty strong.

Not sure about mixing galv and allum though..The lags are ss..

yeah i am going to be preping the boat in 5 weeks since the fishing season is right now and i am working but i cant wait to start the build. i know it will be about summer time when i start but i want to have it ready for like the end of july.

Neat hull. I think my first order of business would be installing a proper bow eye!

Still need to touch up around but it's installed!

This boat building stuff does take forever, that's why we are only selling our other boat when the project boat is done.

Lifting eye/ring & tie off for bow lines. A central cleat, w a chock on either side to guide the line off the boat

It's a lift ring for storing on a boat lift. I thought it looked pretty cool so I decided to reinstall it..

I havn't snorkeled down the Ichetucknee in about 8 years . If your ever traveling thru the area this is a great place to spend a day. You end up with a frozen butt and sunburnt knee's if ya just tube down it . Man at the fish you see if you snorkel .I have seen fresh water gar in there at least 5 or 6 feet long . There kinda scary up close and personable !

I stopped in Silver Springs once n my younger years...Didn't have a camera...went out on one of the glass bottom boats..man that is some clear water...and the bass...huge!

Manatees will swim up into the springs but mostly in the winter .The water temp stays at constant 72 deg coming out of the springs..
