Thanks Wood but I am nowhere even remotely close to a pro.. There's kid out there doing stuff on surfboards that I could only dream of pulling off . I know my limitations but I do have a good time out there.

And Troop If you can jump out of a perfectly good airplane I know you can surf LOL!! If your ever in the neighborhood I'll find a board big enough for ya and you'll hangin ten in no time!

Good looking pix SP! Nice thing about surfing in Fl, you look less like a seal to most sharks.... In northern Calif, the dark shadows in the cresting waves could be either. In cold water you're in a full body wet suit in July, and look like a very tasty seal.... In addition to the glider flights, I also highly recommend the north shore of Oahu for surfing:D The pipeline is unbelievable..... No, didn't surf it. The 2ft swells on Waikiki, yeah, until I was red as a ripe tomato........ But that too was a long time ago, same week as the 1st flight of the Challenger Space Shuttle:facepalm:

Maybe you can take up wakeboarding behind the MFG:cool: Or one of those ski hydrofoil chair things:

Have a great weekend! Surf if you can!

That thing looks like it could cut your leg off ^^^^..
BTW a local surfer got nibbled on by a shark at jax beach a couple of days ago.

I decided to head to the beach this morning when I got there they had the beach closed to all swimming and surfing!  .
I havenever had that happen before I mean this is why we spend money at our local surf shops . I guess the only time we are allowed to surf is when there is no waves ! I know we aren't supposed to get political on the forum but I am really getting sick of the govt telling us what we can and can not do ! That goes for fishing also..
I guess I'll go out and work on the boat.:) Hopefully I can get it ready before they stop us from using them to.

Yeah, I won't be trying the ski chair anytime either... Hope the surfer kept his limbs.....

Tropical storm Beryl is headed up the east coast. Maybe the waves will still be up on Monday afternoon as the crowds thin:)

It's getting a little windy down here. The storm kinda took a coarse a closer to where we are at and one bridge has closed. My son works on the other side of the St Johns I hope he don't get stuck over there..There calling for 80 mph gusts. Hopefully we don't lose power.
We will check in later

I thought you were awfully quiet last night :)

Glad you came out without too much damage...and 12 hrs without power isn't all that bad...

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Welcome Evan! I will try and answer your question as best I can . I am not a pro at boat restoration I've been learning a little bit everyday with the help from all the guy's here on the forum.. I really don't know how much I have spent on my restore. I have a cookie jar where i've been saving my receipts and I'm scared to add them up yet  On the transom I used seacast which was much more costly than if I had used plywood so I am guessing with fiberglass and all I probably have 7 or 8 hundred in just the transom . All together with the donor boat I got and trailor parts it's probably pushing 3 grand with tools paint , glass ,acetone , sandpaper, more glass ect,ect..
One thing for sure is you WILL spend more than you want to. That's time and money!
I'm not sure what you mean by make the boat higher. You mean make the gunwhales taller ?
Unless you have a money tree in the back yard or you are attached to this boat I think it would be cheaper to sell it and find the size and shape boat that you really want. There out there you just have to keep looking..
I don't know if I help you any but good luck with whatever you decide to do
S.P. ;)

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

happy anniversary!

i am actually going to try this project. i am going to keep the boat the same size cause of the price. but i got the materials for a new deck and i am going to cut the top half of the boat off like you did to yours and re-fiberglass that and add in a new dash and i am going to fix the washboards and put in a new transom with new stringers and bulkheads. i am going to paint the sides teal green the bottom copper and the top and the deck will go grey and i am putting a new stereo in it with speakers and i am going to fix the bottom of the hull little dings e.t.c . i am also getting seats but i can find them around dirt cheap hopefully. i am also going to weld up my trailer since its got holes in it and paint it with balck paint i got and its got a new axel. since my grandfather owns a boat shop he got tools so i figure the price will be around 2grand?? anyone got a rough idea on the price? its gona be a project boat and i am going to see but if i do fix it up i will post pictures . tell me what ya think. my boat is a 1960s edinboro MFG boat think its worth it for this type of boat. i find its a nice little boat for the bay! i got a 1988 evinrude 70hp motor that i am going to put on it!
