Oh boy. This is bad. I didn't think glass boats were made to get wet:eek:

For a long time I had my boat battery sitting in the garage and an old bilge pump. Put some longer leads on the pump and used it to drin the the rain off of the sagging cover on the boat.

Or he could just install his drain.:D

That's actually not a bad idea...the battery and old bilge pump, that is...Thanks TDF...
Oh and I haven't drilled out the bilge drain yet 'cause it is going in a slightly new location...in the center and at the lowest point in the bilge...it wasn't any where near that from factory......but I gotta wait till the center stringer is in...hopefully, soooon...

Only on the outside, they melt if they get wet on the inside with anything but fish guts...:(

A very large umbrella.

Nice work GT1000000!

Thanks...if I could find the right size at a decent price...hmmmm;)

Isn't there a quick fix for this?

It's not exactly a quick fix, but finishing this restore would solve the problem......oh yeah, and drilling out the drain...

Everything look great GT1M! The eyes are bulletproof!

Thanks RR, I'll test the bulletproof theory with my BB Gun...anything else from my arsenal might just penetrate...:eek:LOL...

Would you Believe...?

And just to prove it, here are some pics...

A huge shout out to my glassin brother, Gabriel...my neighbor Captain's son, who has helped me out several times with this resto and is an awesome doood to boot...when he's available, I just give him a call, and he is there...what a guy!

I have almost used up my first fiver of resin...that in and of itself feels pretty amazing...

Got to get on over to my supplier and pick up some more Cabosil, milled fibers, latex gloves, and Acetone, but I can see some progress...this is like the milestone I had never envisioned, when I started this...

and Yes, it feels AWESOME!!!

Hopefully, more progress coming soon to a forum thread near you...:)

Have a great week y'all, tomorrow's hump day, and Friday isn't far behind...

And so the official put back has begun..... What a nice calming shade of blue you have to work under:)

The STRINGER looks great, so does the glassing.... Quality over quantity, I like it!

I have a line on a closer supplier for some materials, 1.5hrs north, but what a PITA to 'become' a customer. I feel like I've agreed to turn over a kidney:facepalm: But $200+/- saved on shipping is $200 saved. Must be great to have a material hookup so close.

BTW: 99 ROCKED! Still fond of the Sunbeam Tiger......:D

Thank you, Sir...

I love rumors like that...make you feel all warm and fuzzy...know what I mean?

Ok, let me get this straight, 1.5 hours each way...so approximately 70-80 miles...140-160 round trip...2 cups of Dunkin Donuts coffee, a Honey Bun, maybe a small bag of Doritos, a Coke or Pepsi on the way back, 20 bucks... average 20-22 miles per gallon, so 7-8 gallons of gas, 30-35 bucks, and you saved over two hundred bucks...

Yeah, I think its a pretty decent SCORE!!! even if it did cost a kidney...

And yes, it is not only nice, but amazingly, supremely, incredibly, awesomely, ecstatically OK...to have a supply connection, literally like 15 minutes from the house...sorry, I just had to...

And 99 was like the hottest thing this 10 year old had ever seen...back then...then I saw 1,000,000 B.C. with Raquel Welch..haven't been the same since...

That's gotta be the heaviest duty stringer I have seen. What was the reasoning behind burying it with the plywood cross member? Added strength? Nice work!! If I don't hurry up, you're gonna beat me to splash!

Well actually, for whatever reason, the boat was originally designed with those keel reinforcements from the factory...I kinda liked the idea of them being there as they provide a really good place to screw down the bilge pump, without worrying about punching through the hull...plus I figured they would add some structural rigidity to that part of boat...what I did was make them a little longer than original...the gap between the two, made a perfect place for the center stringer to lay in and at the same time, keep it tight and upright while the first batch of PB was setting up...I have also modified the the original profile of the stringer to allow me to make the future modifications I have in mind to the new deck layout...it may eventually get cut or trimmed some to make room for the mods, but like they say, it is easier to cut wood than add to it...

And Yes, I have a tentative splash date of Memorial Day...2014 or 2015...LOL

If that's not a stringer I don't know what is!!! Lookin good Gus!!!

Thanks Mike, without the great help and inspiration from guys like you on this forum...I would not even be doing this...Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you...:D

You're jammin now Gus! You might want to flip that hull and paint it before you get to much weight back in it. I'm finally putting that resin you gave me the assist on to good use.
