I am trying to install a battery Voltage Warning LED in the dash of my boat. The LED that came with the kit is a 5mm led and the plastic mount for it is far to short to install without glueing in an over 1/2" thick fiberglass dashboard. I am looking for something longer that I can use to mount the LED with an attaching nut from behind. I have attached two pictures, one show black plastic led mounting that is to short for the dash and the other showing the type (except longer threaded portion) that I am looking for. So far I have found nothing. Any ideas?

You are working too hard on this problem. There is no stress or strain on this installation and you won't be removing it anytime soon as LEds last forever. Just put it in the panel with some Marine grade RTV and it won't go anywhere. The RTV will also insullate it from any vibration in your panel.

I agree with John...this ain't going anywhere, and you have the wires to keep it in the general vicinity of the hole if it ever came loose.

I like the looks of the supplied light socket...where did you get this kit? I have been wanting to add a warning light to my engine warning buzzer system....
