SP, That looks just like mine. Different mfgs make em in defferent ways. For me, the one GT has works really well with MAT and ours does better with Cloth. Both will work either way.

Yep! No worries S.P., they all work pretty much the same. Their main function is to help pop the bubbles...similar to tires, they all have different tread patterns, but they all do the same basic function...

Bud vases? Washer and dryer for a workbench? I'm starting to think you glass guys have been hanging out in the tinny threads too long. Although the pie, cake, cookies, and koolaide is pretty good over there. :D

Gt, your gonna have a seriously tough bass boat when done. Its funny, when I was looking at your transom pics, I was thinking, anyone who didn't know boats that drove by would probably wonder what the heck you are doing to that poor boat! Little do they know, you got skiwills. Spelled that way on purpose! :D

Shhhh TDF...don't say that too loud...I have actually been sipping some of that kool-aid, but still haven't finished my first full cup...hehehehe...

Thanks RR...I think you're too late on that warning to TDF...I have heard rumors he's recently become a convert to the glass-side...may have even angered the tin-folk some....

Thanks CW, however, when it comes to sewing, I believe that as long as it is done for the express purpose of re-upholstering our boats...it does not even come up on the Man-card Radar...

Thanks CC, yeah, I've never done any tubing and its been over a quarter century since I did any water-skiing, so who knows, maybe I'll put them on my bucket list down the road...

Hopefully everyone is having a good slide down to the end of the week...

I am keeping my fingers crossed for ZERO rain, cause my hull has NO drain!...

Later all...

Hey GT I was wondering How much resin and how many yards of cloth do you predict your whole project will take. Also are you using the 1708 biaxal cloth everywhere?

My best Guess-timate, so far...I will prolly go through 20, maybe 25 gallons of resin and at least 15-20 yards of 1708, I'll be using it pretty much everywhere, not only as tabbing, but also as full coverage laminations over the Transom, Stringers, Decking [probably only the top side, only a layer of CSM on the underside], and anywhere else I feel I will need the added strength...Just for reference, I'll probably end up using almost double that figure of the CSM...obviously those figures can change as I progress, plus it really depends on how much I end up changing the configuration of the cap, but that should get me fairly close...I hope...

Re: Love, Necessity and Pride

Just a quick update on the stern eyes...

1/4" thick aluminum backing plates fabricated, holes drilled in transom, through the previously refilled PB plugs and stern eyes temporarily installed...

The green color is from the Zinc Chromate Primer...

When they are permanently installed, they will get a generous application of 3M 5200...

Happy Friday and may the weekend bring lots of boat restoration progress...:D

Gus, those are sweet! I may need to get me a pair of those Even if I don't over drill the holes and PB fill they would definately help spread the load when pulling the kids on tubes.

The way you did the stern eyes, they should never pull out and should never leak water into your new beautiful freshly glass i-boats
decdicated transom.

Great looking work.
