Finished the side panels.Going to buy some nice trim to hide my lousy cutting.Wood hates me!Use the oil for looks and sealing ,it works great.Ive used it before on other wood on boats and it lasts a long time .That can was from the 60,s or later.Had to stop working in the boat as it was getting so hot in their the cannibals down the road kept flipping me over every half hour, lol.

Looks good from where I am sitting. You use plywood to make that side panel? What kind of trim you thinking?

Side panel is 1/2 plywood.I made such a botched job of the drivers side if i cant figure how to hide it i just ,just might have enough left over to redo it but i better get my eyes fixed first boy did i mess up.As crooked as can be.AH forget it ,its coming off it will drive me nutsSEE the one on the left theres a fair gap between the al and wood. Maybe 5/8 chrome autotrim might fix it up and do all around so it looks good.Im out of wood .While i mull it over i will do the rest its not in the way.You see in earlier photos the consul front sucks also so i believe i will redo that piece also.Typical boat project, the closer you think your to the end the more you find to do!

For future reference putting gluvit or fasco on the rib rivets is a waste of time/product, you can't get the goop around the rivet body where water would penetrate the hull. Seams, keel and the rivets in the field holding on the strakes are the only rivets it's effective on. Yeah I slathered that stuff all over my first boat resto and somebody mentioned it to me.

Oops... Definitely slathered it on every rivet on my boat

That gap is for drainage!!!

I have had many a moments on projects where I wondered what I was thinking , but you know a true craftsmen by how well they hide their mistakes . Truthfully, I may look at just getting another sheet. I don't know how much it cost you, but where I am the aluminum trim would probably cost as much if not more than just a whole new board.

That is a nice dash. Do you like that aged look? Looks very rustic.

Yes i like the aged look.I used ancient pure linseed oil and got that look almost immediately. What i dont like is the location of the bilge pump switch.Everytime i swivel the seat it goes on .Why somebody would put it there is beyond me.SHSU if you look in the dash photo the open part of the bow was totally slathered with fasco.Used 1.5 cups total to do it just to see how much total coverage per mixed batch. That means everything.

Thanks, that is good to know on how much Fasco will be needed. Still as thick as syrup?

Maybe switch out the switch on the panel with one that has a cover

Isn't that pull switch a double pull for the nav and stern light? Had one of those on my SN.

Installed seat today, and after 25 plus years of braindead i finally figured out to put boat on car ramps instead of trying to squeeze my big butt under a low trailer, lol. What a much easier way to apply the fasco!

Personally I don't like the extra connections of the boxes with external terminals and them being exposed..

Dont know why i bothered to ask i went and got the fancy battery box anyways, lol. So after i installed it and hooked up my wires the lights were on.Took the tester to the switch and off it shows power on both sides so i guess its faulty.Yes the wires are all hooked up correctly.Oh almost forgot ,did the bottom of the boat today with fasco and the transom.Back went out again so im now pretty useless for a while.

Well i guess my wiring abilities suck!Im going to take all the wires for the bow and stern lights and rip them out and start fresh. Its a dogs breakfast so im going to fix it all up neatly.Took me a friggin half hour to sit up and get out of the boat.Better take a few days off and get the back better.Heres the paint i bought today. It white.Belive it or not the last boat i really painted was a al 14foot gruman and i painted it chrysler met grey centari.

Looking good. I think I can see the line where you ended the Fasco. How much did it take to cover that portion?

Should i get just a plain battery box or the one with the posts and led?

I will have to look into this box you speak of? Sounds like something I would want
