Re: hull extension in progress with pics

hi all......im going to post this here so it doesnt get lost....

mrs oops and i finally got to get the boat on the water by our selves......the boat is running good !

however......this is what happened....

tonight mrs oops and i had to tow a sea doo back from the lake...

it was involved in a collision.

an 18 year old male and his 11 year old sister were on a jet ski....the supercharged kind....

they left her body laying on the dock because the ambulance doesnt deal with that......the coroners do.

mrs oops and i were floating and enjoying the sunset.....taking pictures ...relaxing.......when we heard a collision on the water.
i fired up the motor and drove to the sound.......we were 700 yards away.......when we got on the scene......someone was in the bow of a bow rider boat....jumping on someones chest.....yelling "does someone know cpr".....and "call 911" i tried to pull beside the boat ....but the driver hit the throttle and took off to shore.

pulling along side......i shut the motor of a badily damaged jet ski......( i have seen damage....but this boat was wiped out bad !!!)

there were two jet skis floating in the water......one wiped...one not.....lots of flotation foam was on the water....lots of debris.....a sandal, and an empty life jacket.
i jumped in the water.....and collected the debris.......then towed one of the jet skis back to the dock......another boat that was there, towed the other.

when i got to the dock......the police and ambulance were there......the police wanted to take my statment......and took my girls camera .......she videoed the rescue.

the body of an 11 year old baby girl was lying on the dock.....with her parents wailing laying beside her.

i really dont know what to think right now.....i didnt see it......but i am under the impression that it was the driver of the jet ski that was at fault.....the brother.

.......parents....please ....please.......make sure your kids are driving responsibly....,jet skis.....boats....cars.....

a family will be one less tonight.

WOW! Sadly, avoidable accidents like that happen often, wouldn't wish that on any family though. Good job helping out, way to show the helpful attitude of an iBoater!!

Reply #4269. Wow oops! It took me two years to read through all the fantastic information, discussions, ideas and set backs that are littered throughout this amazing thread. Sorry it took me so long to get around to congratulating you on not only the achievement in building the boat, but also on your positive attitude at all times. Great stuff - a lesson for us all in so many ways! :D

Gidday fellow boaties smiley41.gif

I was googling the interweb for something and come across this title - 4 days later and I have no idea what I was googling  you're a bad influence Ward (but in a good way) :p I take my beanie off to you, mainly for producing something of that quality drinking something that tastes like swamp water :p :D

Keep up the good work and maybe next December we'll get to see it finished, providing you don't break or lose ya cam cord again

Tightlines and screaming reels

Holy cow...just made it through the last of this thread...My brain is cooked, and I spent my sweet time reading it. Gotta say, this is one of the most ambitious projects I've seen followed through. Good Job Oops!

I'm sure you know, but an Alpha is only rated to 300 HP. If your 350 is pushing 320 like you think, that may have contributed to the last one's demise. Careful with that fun lever! I know of a couple of people who are running Alpha's with more HP, and that is the key. Sounds like you've got it now, but in the future...

Re: hull extension in progress with pics

thanks.....

its still not done yet.....lol.....i have been working on everyone elses boat this year and have little time for mine.....

as far as the drive......its working now.....and yes...the alpha is a 300 hp rating....but as long as you take it easy on them you can go a lot higher.....just slow on the throttle !

ill tell ya tho.....when the uppers went........the motor stopped cold. 3000 rpm to zero in a tenth of a second !!

I've been following this thread forever it seems like. Where are the pictures? I may have missed them but I can't find any current pictures of the WHOLE boat. All I can find are little shots of misc. pieces. Are they posted somewhere else? Everyone sounds like they have seen this thing as it is currently so i feel like I am missing some photos somewhere.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

thanks bud......

and welcome to iboats !!!

as mentioned i have been working on everyone else's boats instead of my own.....

however...all i have to do to finish is make the upholstery...and paint the boat....its theme colors....and attach the swim grid.

the uph can be done in my kitchen over the winter.....and the theme paint will only take me 3 days with my current access to tools and space. the swim grid is a 2 hour job.

so im really hoping to be totally done by early spring !
