You'll have to be quick. Kinda like the roadrunner, oops! will have that drank and be hiding behind a rock waiting for you to reload before you can pull the rope! He'll get the whole damn case and you'll get nothing! You need something more like those bear traps they use on nuisance bears. The trip wire must be attached to the bottle. Good luck.

Deck as in CD player.

Re: hull extension in progress with pics

good to hear you are coming....ill have my phone on.......

speaking of ogopogo...........uh.......well.........i dont beleive in lake monsters............but. !
joan and i have seen really wierd large wave patterns on the lake. even in the winter......there is a lookout on the south side, that we sit and park and listen to music.
i have noticed these strange formations often. they allways seem to be heading toward rattle snake island. and allways around early evening.
the waves are large.......it even happens in the winter when there are no boats in sight. very large definate waves leaving whitecaps on a flat glass calm lake.

last night.....i ginally got the boat on the water after totally re wireing the trailer.........dorpped her in the water....fired it up and wahoo......off i went...
the cops were on the water shaking people down for any money they could get (fines) so i set for the south side of the lake to stay away from them.

had it running for about 20 mins......everything was good......then ......i heard a clunk. and she just stopped........the motor died fast.....
tryed to re start.....but she was seized tight......would not turn an inch.

it was a beauteful day....i was only a mile form shore...and there were lots of boats around......so i just relaxed opened a beer and sat.
i decided after a while to start paddeling.......so i went for it.......i was paddeling about 20 mins.....then decided to take a dip.......
got naked......and jumped in.......there were no boats around with in at least a mile at that time......(or i would not have been "au natural") got out of the water opened a beer....lit a smoke......sat there for a minit.....then i saw the waves.

the waves were about 30 yards from my bow and they were biig. no boats were in the area at all......and they were starting from a point and spreading out behind the point.....moving forward about 5 mph.......i stood and stared.....and wondered. then i saw something just under the water. LARGE....i realized it had to be about 20 feet minimum...and swam not like a fish....side to side.....but a humpy like smimming.....with sections at the surface...and most under the water.....

dont know what it was......but i saw something....and it was BIG.

it was right in the area that i have seen the strange waves....and early evening.

If I can round up the film crew from Monster Quest, do think it would possible to use the same "bait" to lure it back in?

Here is the latest pic of the waves made by what they saw, they said it was just under the surface at the time.

Is this what you saw? They may have been drinking the same beer...I wonder if that helps.

Re: hull extension in progress with pics

yuppers jody......those waves are a little smaller than the ones i saw....but basically the same pattern.
that pic looks like it was taken a little more towards rattle snake island....

if i fix the boat in time....we can go out there.......bring dynamite. !

after i sat in wonder for about 15 minits.....i grabbed the paddle again and headed to shore......

some guys in a bayliner saw the paddle working and gave me a tow into the el...(the local large boat launch)

i think the problem is in the drive, not the motor.....after i get done with the house to day....im going to pull the drive and flash the motor and see what is going on.....but she wont turn over with the drive on

OOPS!

Just some quick kudos. I've been reading this thread every free moment for the past week and a half... I'm up to about page 130 and have enjoyed every moment so far- looking forward to finishing but had to get in and comment. I'm new to the forum, not so new to boating, and have a fair amount of experience with F/G. I'm in the final stages of a deal on a nice project boat and will apply a lot of what I've learned here to it- probably even start my own repair/restore thread. Great thread here, TONS of really useful information!! Keep up the good work, and thanks for all the entertainment!!

it was always my intention to document everything ....incluuding my mistakes....so im glad you can learn from them......lol

its mainly the people that post giving there expertice to this thread that makes it.
this (IMHO) is the best techinical thread on glassing on the forum....its due to the input of professionals in the industry helping where ever they can.

Re: hull extension in progress with pics

well i pulled the drive, and flashed the motor....it started right up.

the drive shaft on the leg wont move.......in a few hours im going to seperate the upppers from the lower and see what the trouble is.

i have acess to a used lower, and i have my 145 ratio uppers. so i just might assemble a different set. and try to fix this one....

ill have more info in a few hours.

i have to fix a storm damaged boat so while im waiting for the gellcoat to cure, thats when im going to pull apart the drive.

Re: hull extension in progress with pics

well......the drive is apart.

the thing seized in the uppers so tight that the drive shaft bent....actually twisted.

the reason for the failure is still unknown.......however a failure of this type is usually caused by lack of oil......dont know where the oil went.....i had just filled it.

i dont know if i trust the lower housing now.....or the lower gears....so im going to rip it all apart tonight or tommorow......check the gears, re assemble it.......pressure test it.....then re test the boat.....

so we will see how it looks when i rip the lower apart !
