Re: hull extension in progress with picks

A trick I have found on the 2 part foam is mixing it good. When you pour he two parts together have one of those little paint mixers on your battery drill and stir for about 15 seconds and then pour. It will expand to a much larger area and more density.

You can dunk the mixing thingy in some lacquer thinner and you're all cleaned up and ready for the next batch.

Try it with a small amount, mix one with the drill and pour it in cup to expand....mix the same amount with just a stirring stick and pour it in a cup.....you'll be amazed at the difference.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

that is a fantastic tip.

my mixer is an electric eggbeater thingy on a drill.

properly mixing matetrals is the most important thing......from gellcoat to resin to peanut butter or foam...
the mixing is most important

when mixing larger batches of gellcoat or resin......try to get a "vortex" going and keep it going for 5 mins....THEN YOU ARE PROPERLY MIXED !

I use the same paint mixer with great results! ;)

Just went out on my first fishing trip of the year and it was glorious! Of course, I still have the Glastron in the works out back still. Still looking forward to seeing you rock out that scheme for your boat...it's good that life is getting in the way of it though...means you are doing well, right?

Certianly not to get off topic here, but just wondering as mentioned half way through the thread, that oops is a hockey fan. Being from the Boston area, hows the Stanley Cup fever out there? Go Bruins!

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

If Boston wins, the cup will go to more provinces than if it would if Vancouver wins. The Canucks are not a very popular team outside of BC. 62% of Canadians polled for sportsnet were pulling for the Canucks. That dropped to 50% in the eastern provinces. It's been 18 years since the cup was won by a Canadian team and brought home. The Canuck's suck ,but I wish them well. Go Oilers.

Got that impression around here. All eastern Canada pulling for the Bruins. Something about an east/west dislike sorta thing up there? Good first game anyhow.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

lol.........damm fixing boats is getting in the way of the cup !

i have missed 3 periods allready........not tonight !
all i have to do today is finish bottom painting a 27 footer and i am done for the day!

the whole bc area is buzzing with cup fever !
every third car in the area has a 'nucks flag on it. and during the game, the streets are like a ghost town.
i work 20 mins from home, and if i leave after the start of the game, im home in 10 mins, lol

those pics of vancouver, with poople swarming the street during and after the games are just a small portion of the party, from local news we are seeing reports of other citys (white rock, surry, maple ridge) having simelar events after the games!

wahoo !

the reason for the big east/west thing is set deep in canada. but one reason is last time the canucks went to the cup finals, we had to get thru toronto to do it. so they all hate us, leafs fans are very loyal (in not misguided. lol)

to our boston fan that posted earlier.......good luck. we go to your town tonight.

oops prediction. 'nucks in 5
that means a win friday night in vancouver........i expect the hangover to last a week !

lol.....struggling is right bud !
i hacve just spent two days on my back, in 27 deg weather (around 90 f) with a parer suit, a full thick raincoat and coveralls sanding the bottom of a 27 footer......lol....i loose more water a day than the rain clouds over thunderstorm alley !
but im havin fun......hope we both get out on the water soon bill !

I haven't been up your way for a very long time, I will be farily soon though, I'll let you know when.

would love to see ya !
let me know when!.......lots to catch up on.
the boat sales industry has been flat this year cause the gas at $5.50 a gal and 8 on the water!
but im told, over all the glass industry, has stablized. (lol) stablized at 10% of what it was.....but stable.

im chillin the beer for you now !

How blind was that dog last night? Shaping up to be a good series. Seems a sleeping giant was awoken after Horton was taken out.
